Organization for humanitarian Assistance (OHA), established in the year 12. January. 1994 is an Afghan, non-profit, non-governmental and non- political organization, cooperative partner of UN and other international organizations implementing developmental and humanitarian projects in the southern region of Afghanistan. OHA strives to contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs) while strictly adhering the humanitarian principles, and key elements of good governance; participation, transparency and accountability. The intention is to alleviate sever suffering, spread awareness, enable people to become self-employed and self-dependent at village, district and city levels for boosting rural and urban economy and livelihood in consultation with donors and local communities.

Our areas of work include; irrigation (canals, culverts, bridges, flood protection), education (schools, literacy, awareness campaigns), road (structure and construction), capacity building (management training, vocational training), drinking water (drilling wells and extending water supply), health system (construction of infrastructure), provision of humanitarian assistance during natural and human made disasters.

Job Purpose:

The Mental Health & Psychosocial Expert is responsible for providing professional psychosocial support and counselling services to vulnerable individuals and communities affected by conflict, displacement, or trauma. The expert will also train community members and project staff on psychosocial care and mental health awareness..

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individual and group psychosocial counselling sessions tailored to the needs of men, women, and children.
• Develop and implement psychosocial support programs and awareness activities.
• Train project staff and community volunteers on basic psychosocial support, trauma-informed care, and referral mechanisms.
• Facilitate community workshops to reduce stigma and promote mental health and well-being.
• Coordinate with local health and social services to ensure timely referral of clients.
• Monitor and document counselling activities and progress of beneficiaries.
• Provide technical advice on psychosocial issues within the project.
• Coordinate closely with community elders, religious leaders, schools, local authorities, and partner NGOs.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in psychosocial counselling and mental health support.
• Experience working in humanitarian or development settings, preferably with conflict-affected populations.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed counselling approaches.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto; English is an asset.
• Ability to work sensitively with both male and female clients.
