Job overview

The Social Mobilizer will be the front-line link between communities and the project team, responsible for delivering key messages on health, nutrition, WASH, education, and child protection, and collecting community feedback, concerns, and complaints. This role is critical to ensure inclusive participation, increase awareness, and support an effective complaint and feedback mechanism.

Community Engagement and Social Mobilization

  • Mobilize and engage community members (men, women, boys, girls) through household visits, group sessions, and community meetings.
  • Deliver structured awareness sessions using approved IEC materials.
  • Promote participation in UNICEF-supported services, including health centers, nutrition sites, WASH facilities, and safe spaces for women and girls.
  • Support the formation and facilitation of local peer groups, women’s circles, adolescent clubs, and community committees.

Complaint and Feedback Mechanism (CFM)

  • Raise community awareness on how to safely share concerns, ask questions, or make complaints about services.
  • Operate CFM channels (suggestion boxes, help desks, outreach feedback) at community level.
  • Document complaints, feedback, and suggestions clearly and accurately using standard forms.
  • Refer sensitive or complex cases to the CFM Officer or relevant program focal points for follow-up.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold respect and dignity of all individuals when receiving complaints.

Data Collection and Reporting

  • Maintain daily records of outreach activities, session attendance, and community feedback.
  • Submit weekly reports to the CFM Officer or Field Coordinator with disaggregated data (age, sex, location).
  • Support monitoring visits, community consultations, and satisfaction surveys as required.

Coordination and Teamwork

  • Coordinate closely with sector teams (Health, Nutrition, WASH, Child Protection, Education) to synchronize messages and outreach plans.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions on SBC, AAP, safeguarding, and protection.
  • Assist in organizing community events, health campaigns, and distribution activities.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Diploma in social sciences, health, education, or development.

Experience

  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in community mobilization, awareness raising, or outreach activities.
  • Experience working with women, children, and vulnerable populations is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with humanitarian principles and protection-sensitive communication.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong verbal communication and group facilitation skills in local language(s).
  • Trusted and respected in the target community.
  • Basic reading/writing and form-filling skills (for activity and complaint documentation).
  • Culturally sensitive and gender-aware.
  • Willingness to travel within the community and conduct fieldwork in remote areas.
