Job Descriptions:

Main Responsibilities:

 

1. Gender-Focused Network Building and Strengthening:

  • Mobilize community structures to take ownership of gender-sensitive child protection initiatives, enhancing their capacity to provide sustainable support to vulnerable
  • women and children.
  • Strengthen the capacity of community structures to address gender-based vulnerabilities, particularly those faced by women and girls.
  • Integrate the voices of women and children into network activities, ensuring gender-sensitive programming across all child protection initiatives.

 

  1. Facilitation of Gender-Sensitive Collaboration:
  • By fostering open communication and aligning efforts, the coordinator will ensure that child protection and gender-based initiatives are embedded within the fabric of
  • community systems, contributing to long-term resilience.
  • Organize regular meetings with stakeholders to review progress, share best practices, and develop strategies to address the evolving needs in gender and child protection.

 

  1. Capacity Building with a Gender Focus:
  • Identify capacity gaps related to gender within local networks and organize targeted training sessions for community leaders and service providers.
  • Provide technical support to stakeholders on gender-based violence, child protection, and prevention of abuse and exploitation, aligning with international standards.

 

  1. Monitoring, Reporting, and Gender Analysis:
  • Develop monitoring tools that assess the impact of child protection and gender-focused activities, ensuring they meet project objectives.
  • Collect gender-disaggregated data on network activities, particularly about GBV and child protection, to inform program improvements and advocacy efforts.
  • Prepare regular reports highlighting achievements, challenges, and key outcomes in promoting gender equality and child protection, ensuring accurate documentation of
  • progress.

 

  1. Coordination of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Child Protection Interventions:
  • Ensure all network activities are designed to prevent and respond to gender-based violence, with special attention to the needs of women, girls, and children at risk.
  • Integrate GBV prevention, risk mitigation, and response strategies into all child protection programs, ensuring a multisectoral approach to support vulnerable populations.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (required) or Master’s degree (preferred) in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Human Rights, Development Studies, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in child protection, gender-based violence (GBV), women’s empowerment, or related humanitarian/development work.
  • Demonstrated experience in community mobilization, capacity building, and facilitation of networks or coalitions.
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and monitor gender-sensitive programs and integrate GBV risk mitigation into child protection activities.
  • Strong background in data collection, gender analysis, and reporting, including use of gender-disaggregated data for advocacy and program development.
  • Experience coordinating with government institutions, NGOs, UN agencies, and community-based organizations.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Solid understanding of international child protection and GBV standards, including IASC Guidelines and relevant frameworks.
  • Strong facilitation, training, and capacity-building skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with community members and leaders.
  • Strong analytical and report-writing abilities in English (knowledge of local languages is an asset).
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and function effectively in challenging or insecure environments.

  • Commitment to principles of gender equality, child protection, and safeguarding.
  • Willingness to travel to field sites and work closely with communities.
