Job Summary

The Laboure Market Officer will be responsible for establishing and strengthening linkages between vocational training graduates (vulnerable children) and the Laboure market. This includes conducting market assessments, engaging with employers, supporting job placement or self-employment opportunities, and monitoring the transition of trainees into work environments.

Key Responsibilities

Laboure Market Linkage and Coordination

  • Identify and engage with local businesses, industries, private sector actors, and government institutions for potential job placement and internship opportunities.
  • Facilitate direct linkages between vocational training graduates and prospective employers.
  • Coordinate job fairs, employer forums, and networking events to promote employment of trained youth.

Support for Trainees

  • Provide tailored guidance and orientation to trainees (vulnerable children) on future career pathways and income-generating opportunities aligned with their vocational skills and local market demand.
  • Coordinate with families, caregivers, and school representatives to ensure that vocational training complements children's education and long-term development.
  • Support trainees in identifying suitable post-graduation options such as apprenticeships, family business support, group enterprises, or small-scale start-ups.
  • Track and document the post-training status of graduates to monitor progress toward sustainable income generation

Market Research and Analysis

  • Conduct regular local Laboure market assessments to identify emerging employment sectors, skill gaps, and demand trends.
  • Provide inputs to the design and revision of vocational training curricula based on market needs.
  • Maintain a database of employers and relevant Laboure market actors.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Develop monthly and quarterly reports on employment outcomes, market linkages, and trainee progress.
  • Document success stories, challenges, and lessons learned for continuous program improvement.
  • Ensure proper data collection on job placement, self-employment, and income generation activities.

Child Protection and Safeguarding

  • Ensure all activities are aligned with child protection principles and the organization’s safeguarding policy.
  • Work closely with case management teams to support the safe integration of children into work environments.
  • Monitor and report any instances of exploitation, abuse, or harm related to employment placements.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Development Studies, Social Work, or related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in livelihoods, economic reintegration, vocational training, or job placement support, preferably with NGOs or development organizations.
  • Experience working with vulnerable children, youth, or at-risk populations is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to conduct market assessments and engage with employers and stakeholders.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Understanding of child protection, safeguarding, and Do No Harm principles.
  • Knowledge of local Laboure laws and informal market dynamics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, databases).
