Asia Community Development Organization (ACDO) is an Afghan non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit humanitarian organization established in 2014 and registered with the Government of Afghanistan under the supervision of Ministry of Economy (MoEc) with a mission to provide humanitarian and development assistance to the vulnerable, at-risk, and underserved people throughout the country.

ACDO has an active presence in most parts of the country and intends to expand its operations to the remaining provinces, as to transform itself into a leading and developed organization that will deliver to and support large number of people who have been affected by the long-protracted and sudden on-set emergencies and regardless of the hardest circumstances that exist in Afghanistan, ACDO has managed to deliver humanitarian and development assistance in most part of country.

Job Descriptions:

Daily Operations and Activity Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day functioning of the Child Care Center or Child-Friendly Space.
  • Plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate recreational, educational, and psychosocial activities that support children’s development and well-being.
  • Ensure that activities promote healing, resilience, and positive social interaction among children.

Child Protection and Safety

  • Identify and report any child protection concerns or risks observed within the center or community.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, and child-friendly environment where children feel secure and supported.
  • Apply child safeguarding policies and ensure compliance by all staff and visitors.

Child Participation and Engagement

  • Encourage children’s active participation in activities and decision-making processes within the center.
  • Facilitate peer interaction, group discussions, and creative expression to promote empowerment and social skills.

Coordination and Collaboration

  • Work closely with protection, case management, and MHPSS teams to ensure children’s holistic needs are addressed.
  • Engage with parents, caregivers, and community members to raise awareness of child protection and psychosocial support.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Keep daily attendance records and activity logs.
  • Monitor the progress and well-being of children attending the center.
  • Provide regular reports on activities, challenges, and achievements to supervisors and project management.
  • Manage and maintain educational and recreational materials and ensure the center’s resources are used effectively.

Deliverables

  • Comprehensive CCC/CFS program plans and curricula.
  • Training materials and manuals.
  • Monitoring and evaluation reports.
  • Regular progress reports and documentation.
  • Recommendations for program improvements.

Reporting and Documentation:

    • Prepare regular reports on program activities, progress, and outcomes.
    • Preparation of high-quality narrative reports, ensuring timely submission to donors, relevant stakeholders.
    • Document best practices, lessons learned, and case studies.
    • Ensure accurate and timely data collection and reporting.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Advanced degree in physiology, Social Science, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of experience in protection program design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Strong knowledge of physiological counseling, Child Protection & Safeguarding.
  • Proven experience in capacity building and training.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in Case Management, Child Protection, Community engagement and technical support.
  • Familiarity with Child Protection Principles, Standards, Case Management, Local Context and Dynamics.
  • Proficiency in English.

Reporting Line

The Protection Officer will report directly to the Project Manager, and work closely with other members of the provincial team and relevant stakeholders.

Skills:

  • Ability to cope well under pressure, work irregular hours and meet tight deadlines
  • Sound organizational skills and ability to prioritize and deliver assignments in a timely manner often under severe time pressures
  • Report writing and communication skills
  • Deadline-Oriented
  • Good knowledge in Child education system in Afghanistan
  • Coordination skill with government officials, and local elected bodies, NGO’s, project experts and concerned community member

Language skills:

  • Fluent oral and written skills in English;
  • Fluent in Pashto/Dari
