About ACDO:

Asia Community Development Organization (ACDO) is an Afghan non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit humanitarian organization established in 2014 and registered with the Government of Afghanistan under the supervision of Ministry of Economy (MoEc) with a mission to provide humanitarian and development assistance to the vulnerable, at-risk, and underserved people throughout the country.

ACDO responds to the needs of deprived and marginalized rural and urban communities by managing and utilizing the available scarce resources in a well-organized, efficient, effective, transparent, and dignified manner to enhance resilience, boost access to education, health services, and infrastructure, ensure food and livelihood security, and promote social protection and inclusion.

ACDO has an active presence in most parts of the country and intends to expand its operations to the remaining provinces, as to transform itself into a leading and developed organization that will deliver to and support large number of people who have been affected by the long-protracted and sudden on-set emergencies and regardless of the hardest circumstances that exist in Afghanistan, ACDO has managed to deliver humanitarian and development assistance in most part of country.

Job Descriptions:

Case Management Support:

  • Provide technical support to case workers in the identification, assessment, referral, and follow-up of child protection cases.
  • Ensure adherence to established case management procedures and tools.
  • Maintain case documentation and ensure confidentiality and data protection standards are met.

Community Engagement and Coordination:

  • Coordinate with family elders, community leaders, Child Protection Committees (CPCs), schools, and other local actors to raise awareness of child protection issues.
  • Facilitate community-based protection mechanisms and promote child-friendly practices.
  • Strengthen collaboration with existing service providers for effective referral and response mechanisms.

Technical Guidance and Capacity Building:

  • Provide day-to-day technical guidance to the field team to ensure quality implementation of child protection interventions.
  • Lead and facilitate training sessions on child safeguarding, child protection principles, and psychosocial support for project staff and community stakeholders.
  • Support the development of IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) materials to promote protection messaging.

Psychosocial Support and Referrals

  • Identify and support children in need of psychosocial assistance.
  • Strengthen and maintain referral pathways for psychosocial and specialized protection services.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of referral mechanisms and address any gaps in coordination.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Contribute to regular monitoring of child protection activities and provide feedback for quality improvement.
  • Prepare field-level activity reports and case updates for inclusion in overall project reporting.
  • Participate in internal coordination meetings and share updates on progress, challenges, and lessons learned.

Deliverables

  • Comprehensive protection program plans and curricula.
  • Training materials and manuals.
  • Monitoring and evaluation reports.
  • Regular progress reports and documentation.
  • Recommendations for program improvements.

Reporting and Documentation:

    • Prepare regular reports on program activities, progress, and outcomes.
    • Preparation of high-quality narrative reports, ensuring timely submission to donors, relevant stakeholders.
    • Document best practices, lessons learned, and case studies.
    • Ensure accurate and timely data collection and reporting.

Any other task assigned by line manage/ SMT

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Advanced degree in Social Science, Psychology, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of experience in protection program design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Strong knowledge of Child Protection & Safeguarding.
  • Proven experience in capacity building and training.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in Case Management, Child Protection, Community engagement and technical support.
  • Familiarity with Child Protection Principles, Standards, Case Management, Local Context and Dynamics.
  • Proficiency in English.

Reporting Line

The Protection Officer will report directly to the Project Manager, and work closely with other members of the provincial team and relevant stakeholders.

Skills:

  • Microsoft Office - Strong proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook for writing reports, analyzing data, creating presentations, email communications, etc.
  • Web Conferencing - Skills using Zoom, Teams, Google Meet for delivering remote trainings and virtual meetings.
  • Google Workspace - Proficiency with G Suite apps for collaborative documents, sheets, emails.
  • Ability to cope well under pressure, work irregular hours and meet tight deadlines
  • Sound organizational skills and ability to prioritize and deliver assignments in a timely manner often under severe time pressures

Language skills:

  • Fluent oral and written skills in English;
  • Fluent in Pashto/Dari
