Johanniter International Assistance. Johanniter International Assistance is the operational unit for humanitarian aid, development co-operation and emergency relief, implementing and supporting mostly health projects worldwide.

 

Johanniter is working is Afghanistan since October 2002 providing emergency aid, rehabilitation of health facilities, medical care and capacity building for community health workers, students, teachers and professionals of NGOs and government agencies in disaster preparedness and first aid skills. Johanniter’s country office is located in Kabul and has operational coverage in the North, Northeastern and central region with possibility of expansion in the South and Western provinces of Afghanistan.

Job Descriptions:

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Providing leadership to effectively implementation of the project in coverage area.
  2. Oversee the day to day implementation of the health project activities in line with the organization standards
  3. Plan and oversee the implementation of all the health activities within supported health facilities
  4. Build understanding of Project staff and community on the project goal and objectives & JUH mission.
  5. Implementing the project in compliance with agreed standards and practices.
  6. Conduct participatory learning process to assess challenges, opportunities and risks of project implementation.
  7. Conduct regular supportive supervision and monitoring of health activities in coverage areas  
  8. Support in capacity building of the health project staff, identify training needs/gaps and conduct regular refresher and on job training sessions.
  9. Make sure the regular submission of health and nutrition reports and online entries
  10. Regular update of the health indicators and submission of PMT on monthly basis.
  11. Regular submission of weekly, biweekly and monthly health reports according to the stipulated deadlines.
  12. Make sure proper filing system in office and health facility level
  13. Ensure that the health facilities keep an updated stock of all essential supplies and requisitions for health and nutrition supplies are made in a timely manner.
  14. Promote open and participatory processes of decision making and also to inform line manager on the status of the program.
  15. Prepare the project progress report based on designed result oriented framework and quality control guidelines for assessing effectiveness of the Project.
  16. Effectively mobilize communities and ensure awareness building as per project requirement.
  17. Ensure the follow-up of attendance and the punctuality of the field project staff
  18. Represent JUH in all health meetings with PPHD, PHCC and partners within the districts and provincial level
  19. Identify procurement needs and raise procurement requests on time for the target health facilities
  20. Oversee pharmaceutical supplies consumption, report, stock cards, and request
  21. Provide leadership and supervise the work of the project staff in accordance with agreed work plans, targets and project budgets.
  22. Prepare weekly work plans based on agreed monthly plans and budgets and report on progress against these plans.
  23. Participate in baseline surveys or other project-related data collection exercises in collaboration with the Project staff and MEAL
  24. Systematically capture and document lessons from the field for shared learning and identify case studies to highlight successes of the project.
  25. Perform other duties assigned by the line manager

Job Requirements:

Education:

Graduated from a recognized medical faculty.

Experience:

Must have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of work experience as Health supervisor, Project Manager or Project Coordinator

At least 2 to 3-year experience in BPHS.

Experience in facilitating organizing different health training is a sub plus.

Language Professions:

Proficiency in English and Dari or Pashto is required
