About MMRCA

Background Information:

The Medical Management and Research Courses For Afghanistan (MMRCA) is a national, non-for profit, non-political, humanitarian organization established in March 2008, registered with the ministry of economy (MoE) of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

MMRCA has been implemented diversified health, nutrition, capacity building, survey and social projects in 27 provinces of Afghanistan. Currently it has been implementing HER-2 (BPHS) projects in Sar-e-Pul and Samangan provinces, TSFP and Z-grant projects in Sar-e-Pul and Samangan provinces, operational management support to 100 beds National Infectious diseases hospital and operational management support to DATC Kandahar and Nangarhar.

One of the critical issue in health facilities and hospitals is non-functioning of expensive medical equipments which remains unrepaired for long time and even disposed due to unavailability of professional staff for the repair and maintenance. Similarly, some staff really do not know the proper installation and use of equipment. In order to fill the existing gap of MMRCA invites and encourage eligible candidates to apply for the position of Bio-Medical Engineer based in Kabul and requires travels to project sites.

Job Description

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and update equipment repair, maintenance and management plans and review them on a regular basis.
  • Analysis and assessment of MMRCA projects equipments and ensure its proper functioning
  • Offer technical support, training, and guidance to healthcare professionals on using medical equipment
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, and cross-functional teams
  • Maintain and test clinical tools/equipment
  • Conducting Market analysis/SWOT analysis
  • Oversee installations maintenance and disposal of medical equipment to ensure they are done in conformity with Afghanistan applicable laws and MoPH, UNICEF, WHO, MMRCA best practices.
  • Record and investigate non-functioning of medical equipments to determine the cause and to propose improvements to mitigate and prevent in the future.
  • Ensure a safe workplace environment is maintained for staff and avoid risks associated with improper use of medical equipments.
  • Ensure the contractor and supplier meets its contracted obligations in supply and delivery of medical equipments.
  • Provide reliable, accurate, and timely information and reports to MMRCA senior management team
  • Ensure effective team work and coordination with project staff and provincial PPHD team.
  • Participation in all relevant meetings at the central and provincial level if required
  • Any other tasks assigned by PHC manager and MMRCA main office.

Job Requirements

  • Five years’ experience in maintenance and repair of small and big medical equipments,
  • Assessment and training skills.
  • Proven experience in biomedical engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Bio-medical engineering from recognized University.
