Job Descriptions:

1. Background

The Maternal and Child Benefit Program (MCBP), the Nutrition-Sensitive Livelihoods (NSL) component, aims to enhance the food security, nutrition, and resilience of vulnerable households in selected districts. The NSL component focuses on building the practical and entrepreneurial capacities of targeted beneficiaries so they can engage in income-generating and nutrition-improving activities that contribute to sustainable household wellbeing.

2. Purpose of the Position

The MCBP Training Facilitator is responsible for delivering high-quality health and nutrition awareness sessions to targeted communities. This includes preparation of the training space, conducting awareness sessions, facilitating learning through interactive communication methods, supporting CBT teams in crowd management, and ensuring proper referral pathways to the nearest health facilities. The facilitator will also support data collection and reporting, engaging with CHWs and NCs for enhanced awareness and service uptake.

 

3. Key Responsibilities and Key Duties

A. Session Preparation & Coordination

  • Ensure that the health and nutrition awareness session room/spot is properly arranged, equipped, clean, and ready before sessions begin.
  • Use and maintain session equipment such as TV, loudspeakers, and IEC materials.
  • Support the Cash-Based Transfer (CBT) staff with crowd management at the awareness session spot.
  • Stay updated with all project-related topics, messages, and guidelines relevant to health and nutrition awareness.

B. Training & Awareness Delivery

  • Provide scheduled in-person health and nutrition awareness sessions according to the agreed plan.
  • Apply diverse communication and facilitation methods such as Q&A, open discussions, demonstrations, and feedback techniques.
  • Ensure participants clearly understand the health and nutrition messages through feedback loops or comprehension checks.
  • Distribute IEC materials (leaflets, brochures, posters) to beneficiaries after the session

C. Referral, Networking & Community Engagement

  • Encourage participants to seek services from the nearest health facilities.
  • Develop and maintain an updated list of nearby health facilities for referrals.
  • Refer participants to appropriate health facilities and ensure proper follow-up.
  • Conduct monthly coordination meetings with nearby health facilities, NCs, and CHWs to strengthen referral pathways and feedback.

D. Reporting, Monitoring & Documentation

  • Submit daily, weekly, and monthly disaggregated reports to the site supervisor.
  • Daily documentation of participant attendance, the results of each session, and challenges faced.
  • Any incident occurring during the health and nutrition awareness sessions must be reported to the management of CP immediately
  • Participate in project-related meetings, training, and workshops as needed.

 

E. Compliance and Conduct

    • Adhere to organizational policies, including Code of Conduct, PSEA, and Child Protection policies.
  • Sign and adhere to PSEA and Child Protection self-declaration forms.
  • Advance principles of gender equity and inclusion, and safeguarding during all contact with communities.

4. Expected Deliverables

  1. Prepared Session Space:
    Awareness session room arranged, equipped, and ready for each session.
  2. Quality Awareness Sessions:
    Regular delivery of scheduled health and nutrition sessions using interactive methods and ensuring participant understanding.
  3. IEC Distribution & Referrals:
    IEC materials distributed; updated list of nearby health facilities and proper referral of participants.
  4. Coordination:
    Monthly engagement with health facilities, NCs, and CHWs to strengthen referral pathways.
  5. Reporting:
    Accurate daily, weekly, and monthly disaggregated reports submitted on time.
  6. Incident Reporting:
    Immediate reporting of any incidents during awareness sessions.
  7. Compliance:
    Adherence to organizational policies, safeguarding, and participation in required meetings/trainings.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education.

  • MD, Midwifery and Nursing, Minimum 14 years of Education

Experience.

  • At least 3 years of working experience in relevant projects
  • Experience in livelihoods, business development, vocational skills training, or community-based resilience projects and Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC).
  • Experience in nutrition-sensitive or women-focused livelihood projects is highly desirable.

Demonstrated familiarity with the local context and cultural considerations relevant to the project district in Nuristan Provinces.

Required Skills and Competencies

A: Technical Skills (Health/Nutrition Focus)

  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH), nutrition, and public health.
  • Ability to conduct health and nutrition awareness sessions for community members.
  • Skilled in screening, identification, referral, and basic health assessments at the community level.
  • Proficiency in digital data collection tools such as KOBO, ODK, and other mobile reporting systems.
  • Familiarity with participatory approaches, community mobilization, and adult learning techniques.
  • Understanding of health facility systems, referral pathways, and community health structures.

B: Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proven skills in report writing, documentation, and presentation.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to teamwork.
  • Proficiency in English, Pashto, Dari, and the Local Language will be a plus point (spoken and written).
  • Commitment to teamwork, integrity, and professionalism.

C: Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Skilled in digital data collection tools such as KOBO and ODK.
  • Ability to prepare accurate reports, data summaries, and presentations.
  • Familiarity with Android-based applications for field data collection.
  • Basic knowledge of data entry, file management, and online communication tools (Zoom, MS Teams).

D: Additional Competencies

  • Strong coordination and representation abilities with community leaders and health actors.
  • Good understanding of Child Safeguarding Principles, PSEA, and gender-sensitive programming.
  • Ability to maintain accurate data, ensure quality reporting, and uphold confidentiality standards.
