Job Descriptions:

Job Summary

The Cashier will be based in the provincial office; he/she will work for all the projects implemented in the provincial Office and will work under the direct supervision of the Admin& Finance Officer in the province and/or the Finance Manager in the central office.

 

Main duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Controlling and monitoring cash payments from the cashbox and coding and recording cash transactions in the daily cashbook and accounting system,
  •  Performing daily cash counts and investigating any discrepancies
  • Following up on cash advances and ensuring they are duly settled
  • Carrying out transfer requests between cash and safe box
  • Checking the validity of invoices, approval signatories, and the correctness of account codes
  • Performing currency exchange operations when required.
  • Assisting with the preparation of salary payments as required.
  • As back-up for the Finance Officer, to know how to perform monthly reconciliations before closing the monthly accounts, managing bank reconciliations, and monthly bank statements, if applicable.
  • Following up on receivable payables
  • Keeping a cash balance in accordance with the cash and cash box
  • Making cash payments and ensuring that all cash transactions are fully and properly documented.
  • Scanning monthly financial documents before sending to coordination
  • Regularly check the cash box balances against the cash ledger
  • Perform coding and record cash transactions in the daily cash book
  • Check the documentation and authorization to withdraw money from the cash
  • Prepare payments of salaries and allowances
  • Perform monthly reconciliation before closing the monthly accounts
  • Follow up on cash advances and ensure they are duly refunded
  • Carry out transfer requests together with the Finance Officer between the cash and the safe box 
  • Give regular feedback to the supervisor and report directly any issue or incident
  • Any other activities assigned by his/her line supervisor

Job Requirements:

  • Having at least a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, BBA, Economics or any other relevant field.
  • Having at least 2 years’ experience from an accredited college or university.
  • Required Languages – Excellent Pashto and Dari reading, writing, and verbal skills, Fluent in English, reading, writing, and verbal skills.  
  • Fluent in English, Pashto, and Dari with excellent speaking and writing skills,
  • Proficient computing skills – word processing, spreadsheet design, and presentations.
  • Sufficient knowledge in all finance-related issues.
  • Capacity to perform effectively under pressure and harsh conditions; ability to handle confidential and politically sensitive issues responsibly and maturely,
  • Ability to travel throughout the country,
  • Respect the confidentiality of the organization,
  • Ability to use information technology effectively.
