About The Aga Khan University, Academic Projects Afghanistan(AKU-APA):

Aga Khan University Academic Projects, Afghanistan (AKU-APA) is an extension of the Aga Khan University (AKU), chartered as an international University with campuses and academic programs in eight countries across three continents. AKU-APA, through various academic entities of AKU has been supporting national academic institutions in Afghanistan, including Ghazanfar Institute of Health Sciences (GIHS) and all the Institutes of Health Sciences across Afghanistan since 2002 for their capacity building in support with the Ministry of Public Health. AKU-APA has been facilitating various Public Health Research projects in Afghanistan conducted by AKU.

The AKU is one of the entities of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of international development agencies and institutions that implement programs in rural development, education, health, culture, microfinance and private sector development. The overarching goal of the Network is to alleviate poverty and promote economic development and improve public health to raise the standard of living. In Afghanistan, the Network has been contributing to the reconstruction of the country since 1997 through its constituent agencies. Health programs are being implemented by the Aga Khan Health Service (AKHS, A), Aga Khan University Academic Projects in Afghanistan (AKU-APA), and the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF, A).

Job Requirements:

AKU APA is hiring for the following positions for the immunity survey in children 0-15 years, against preventable diseases:

  1. Team Leaders (Male)

Responsible for collecting household data using tablets on family unit information, socio-economic status, and data relating to child immunity against the preventable diseases.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To supervise data collection activities in the field
  • To ensure the quality and validity of data collected from the study participants
  • To visit different households in the communities to ensure the successful completion of data collection in the study areas
  • To follow and ensure the field implementation of project-related SOPs/guidelines as defined in the research project
  • To perform all other duties assigned to him from time to time by the study coordinator

 

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Afghan national
  • Bachelor or Diploma in Nursing; Bachelors degree in social Sciences or in medical
  • At least 2 years of community-based research experience in data collection
  • Must have good organizational and communication skills
  • Must be technology literate, especially using data entry Apps on Tablets
  • The candidates from the mentioned districts will be preferred
  1. Data Collectors (Female)

Responsible for collecting household data using tablets on family unit information, socio-economic status, and data relating to child immunity against preventable diseases.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Independently conduct interviews at the household/community level
  • Collect household data using tablets on family unit information, socio-economic status, and history of child health from zero to 15 years
  • Collect samples
  • To assist the team leader in carrying out day-to-day work in the field
  • Report to the team leader for any job-related issues
  • To perform all other duties assigned to her from time-to-time by the supervisor

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Afghan national
  • Diploma in Nursing or Midwifery; BSc or diploma in any health or social sciences subject.
  • At least 2 years of community-based research experience in data collection
  • Must have good organizational and communication skills;  
  • Must be technology literate, especially using data entry Apps in Tablets
