The Senior Field Officer – Health and Nutrition is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the implementation of health and nutrition activities at the field level, including Therapeutic Feeding Unit (TFU) services. The role involves direct technical and operational support to health facilities, field teams, and community health structures. The Senior Field Officer also supports the Project Manager and the Provincial Deputy Health Manager in planning, monitoring, and reporting on project activities to ensure high-quality service delivery and program effectiveness.
Program Implementation and Supervision:
• Oversee the day-to-day implementation of health and nutrition services, including TFU operations, in targeted health facilities and communities.
• Ensure adherence to national and organizational guidelines, protocols, and standards for health and nutrition, including IMNCI, IMAM, MIYCN, and maternal health.
• Monitor and support CHWs, nutrition staff, and health facility personnel through regular field visits, on-the-job training, and mentoring.
• Ensure proper screening, admission, treatment, follow-up, and discharge of SAM cases in the TFU.
Coordination and Support:
• Act as a focal point between the field team and central management for operational coordination.
• Provide technical and administrative support to the Project Manager and Provincial Deputy Health Manager as needed.
• Coordinate with local authorities, health shuras, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth project implementation.
• Support in the preparation of project documents, activity plans, donor reports, and proposals.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
• Collect, compile, and review field-level data for timely submission to the M&E and technical teams.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of TFU and health facilities reports, including stock balances and patient records.
• Participate in health and nutrition assessments, surveys, and regular performance monitoring.
• Contribute monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Capacity Building:
• Identify capacity gaps and contribute to the planning and delivery of training sessions for field staff.
• Ensure that TFU and health facility staff are equipped with updated knowledge and skills
Logistics and Supply Management:
• Monitor stock levels of essential medicines, nutrition supplies, and TFU commodities at facility level.
• Work with logistics teams to ensure timely delivery and accountability of health and nutrition supplies.
• Report to project manager.
• Collaborate with Providing life-saving health and nutrition assistance for targeted population in Ghazni provinces of Afghanistan.
• project concerned entities/departments at CARE sub office level in respective province.
• Actively contribute to Project Team Meetings, to ensure that the project interventions are implemented in effective and efficient manner and the project goal and objectives are met.
