The Organization for Women Empowerment (OWE) was established in 2014 as a non-profit and development organization - registered with the NGO Department of the Ministry of Economy, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. OWE aims to help impoverished communities, particularly women, youth, and children, gain social, economic and political potency by raising awareness, building capacity, educational and vocational skills training, and creating professional opportunities. OWE is a women’s organization for women. OWE's learning experience as a development organization comes from its working association with communities in different areas of Afghanistan. - Design and deliver community-based psychosocial support (PSS) activities, including Psychological First Aid (PFA) and stress management.
- Train community PSS focal points through Training of Trainers (TOT).
- Identify vulnerable returnees (especially women and girls) and coordinate safe referrals to health, protection, and legal services.
- Ensure survivor-centered and gender-sensitive approaches.
- Lead group PSS sessions and individual support as needed.
- Document and report on MHPSS activities and referral pathways.
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Psychosocial Support, Public Health, Social Work (preferred). Bachelor’s degree with additional experience accepted.
- Minimum 4 years (Master’s) or 6 years (Bachelor’s) in MHPSS programming in humanitarian/development contexts.
- Proven experience in PFA, stress management, and basic counselling.
- Experience with GBV, safeguarding, and survivor-centered referral approaches.
- Fluency in Pashto, Dari, and English.
- Desired: Rostered/certified with the MHPSS Network/Cluster in Afghanistan.
