Shining Star Educational Organization of Afghanistan (SSEOA) is a non-profit, non-governmental, and non-political organization registered with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan, with Registration Number 4388 dated February 18, 2018. SSEOA works in the fields of education, health, and livelihood in the remote regions of Afghanistan. Job Description

The Logistics Officer will be responsible for managing all logistics, procurement, transportation, and supply chain operations for the School Feeding Project in Nuristan province. The role ensures timely delivery, proper storage, and distribution of food commodities and other project supplies in compliance with WFP guidelines and SSEOA policies. The Logistic Officer will play a critical role in maintaining efficiency, accountability, and transparency in logistics operations.

Key Responisbilities: 

Logistics & Supply Chain Management

• Plan and manage the procurement, transportation, storage, and distribution of food commodities and project supplies.
• Ensure timely delivery of food items to designated schools and distribution points.
• Develop distribution plans in coordination with the Project Manager and field teams.
• Monitor supply chain activities to prevent delays, losses, or disruptions.

Warehouse & Inventory Management

• Establish and manage warehouses/storage facilities in line with WFP standards.
• Ensure proper storage conditions, stacking, and handling of food commodities.
• Maintain accurate stock records, bin cards, and inventory tracking systems.
• Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile with records.
• Ensure proper documentation of goods received, dispatched, and stored.

Transportation Management

• Arrange transportation for food commodities, staff, and project materials.
• Monitor vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and maintenance.
• Ensure timely delivery schedules and proper route planning, especially in remote areas.
• Supervise drivers and ensure adherence to safety and security protocols.

Procurement Support

• Support procurement processes in line with SSEOA and donor guidelines.
• Prepare procurement requests, quotations, and comparative analysis.
• Ensure transparency, value for money, and proper documentation in procurement activities.

Monitoring & Reporting

• Prepare regular logistics reports including stock reports, distribution reports, and transport logs.
• Track and report any losses, damages, or discrepancies in food commodities.
• Maintain proper filing and documentation of all logistics-related records.
• Support monitoring visits and audits by providing required logistics documentation.

Coordination & Communication

• Coordinate closely with project staff, suppliers, transporters, and warehouse personnel.
• Liaise with WFP and relevant stakeholders on logistics and supply chain matters.
• Support field teams during distribution activities and ensure smooth operations.

Compliance & Safeguarding

• Ensure all logistics operations comply with WFP regulations and SSEOA policies.
• Uphold standards related to food handling, safety, and quality control.
• Ensure accountability and transparency in all logistics processes.
• Report any irregularities, fraud, or misuse of resources immediately

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in logistics, supply chain, or warehouse management.
  • Experience working with NGOs or humanitarian organizations is required.
  • Experience in food distribution or WFP-funded projects is highly preferred.
  • Experience working in remote or challenging areas is an asset.
  •  Strong knowledge of supply chain and logistics management.
  • Good organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong record-keeping and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with local context and terrain of Nuristan.
  •  Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel for stock tracking).
