The Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL) is a non-governmental and non-profit national NGO that was founded in 1995 by Dr. Sakena Yacoobi to provide education, training, and health services to vulnerable Afghans.
The Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL) believes in a community-based, tailored, holistic approach that provides access to health care and education.
Currently, across 11 provinces, AIL runs 44 Learning Centers, 6 health clinics, and 14 village-based Community Health Worker posts.
Job Description
The midwife will be responsible for providing antenatal, delivery, and postnatal care to patients, ensuring the safety of the mother and newborn, maintaining medical records, and supporting them with professional and compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide antenatal care, including examinations, monitoring pregnancy, and health education
- Assist and manage normal labour and delivery safely
- Monitor the condition of mother and baby during childbirth
- Provide postnatal care for both mother and newborn
- Identify high-risk cases and refer to doctors when necessary
- Support mothers with breastfeeding and newborn care
- Maintain accurate patient records and reports
- Educate mothers and families on health, hygiene, and family planning
- Assist in emergency situations and follow hospital protocols
- Provide emotional and psychological support to patients
- Work closely with doctors, nurses, and other medical staff
- Ensure cleanliness, safety, and infection control standards
Job Requirements
- Diploma in Midwifery (recognized by Ministry of Public Health)
- 5 years Relevant work experience
- It is a full-time job that include night shift
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Compassion, patience, and responsibility
- Strong clinical judgment and teamwork
