Job Description

Job Summary :

The medical doctor is responsible for the overall screening and examination of the infants and women and the delivery of medical services for the project’s activities in the earthquake-affected provinces. The medical doctor closely cooperates with the midwives & nurses in the teams and ensures quality, accountability of deliverables, and respect for deadlines. Under the supervision of the project officer, the medical doctor provides technical support and advice and works in close collaboration with a team of midwives, nurses, and social workers. Medical Doctors perform health assessments and diagnostic tests, prescribe medication, create treatment plans, and provide health and wellness advice to patients. Medical Doctors can specialize in specific areas of health, such as dermatology, neurology, gastroenterology, or gynecology.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with the mobile team members and lead the activities.

  • Provide Primary health care services including triage, first aid, trauma care, and control of essential communicable & non-communicable diseases.

  • Work in collaboration with the nurses and midwives to ensure quality medical care provision.

  • Complete and properly fill the individual card with the medical information.

  • Compile weekly and monthly reports and share them with the line manager over time.

  • Raise regular supply requests to the line manager and ensure the securing of mobile team supplies including therapeutic food and drugs.

  • Refer the complicated cases to a higher level of services and follow up on referred cases.

  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Qualification:

  • Attend the health cluster meeting in the region.

  • OPD consultation in clinic especially diagnosis and treatment of patients.

  • Proficient in Medical basics and management of emergency medical cases.

  • Knowledge and skills regarding registration and reporting systems; analysis and management of reports especially HMIS.

  • Proficient in aseptic and antiseptic disciplines and careful following of them.

  • Ability to diagnose medical patients and skills needed for examining and treating those patients.

  • Proficient in dealing with emergency cases.

  • Basic information about the hospital sections.

  • Supervision of health posts activities with collaboration of related supervisor

Clinical Competencies:

• Diagnose and manage common communicable and non-communicable diseases, manage medical emergencies (shock, trauma, obstetric emergencies) before referral.

• Able to manage Wound suturing, IV access, catheterization, minor surgical procedures.

• Rational Prescribing: Correct use of essential medicines and adherence to treatment guidelines.

• Be able to control the Infection Prevention (IPC): Hand hygiene, safe injection, sterilization practices.

 

Public Health Competencies

• Disease Surveillance: Identify and report outbreaks, monitor trends of priority diseases.

• Referral System Knowledge: Recognize limits of BHC care and coordinate timely referrals to higher-level facilities.

Managerial & Administrative Competencies

• Health Information Management: Maintain accurate patient records, HMIS forms, and reporting to district/provincial health authorities.

• Resource Management: Efficient use of medicines, equipment, and supplies in a resource-limited setting.

• Team Supervision: Guide nurses, midwives, vaccinators, and CHWs;

support capacity building

Job Requirements

Education :

  • Must be graduated and be an MD Doctor

Experience / Skills :

At least have 3 years of experience working as a medical doctor in any health facility

  • Experience working with an international NGO and working in the remote area of the country

  • Passed the MoPH exit exam (those who graduated before 2017 are exempted from Exit exam)

  • Be able to speak the national language

  • Has good knowledge of indicators for and the consequences of types of abuse, exploitation, and violence on children.

  • Can present project health activities concerns verbally and in writing.

  • Has a good understanding of report writing and proposal writing

  • Has good knowledge of national and international legal frameworks on health issues.
