Turquoise Mountain supports artisan communities to protect and revitalise their heritage. Our work is rooted in the belief that cultural heritage has the power to transform lives. Founded in 2006 by His Majesty King Charles III, we work directly with artisan communities in Afghanistan, Myanmar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Palestine and Syria. To date, we have supported over 11,500 artisans across 86 craft traditions, restored more than 170 historic buildings, and provided primary healthcare and education for artisans’ families.

In Afghanistan we have created tens of thousands of jobs, and supported artisans across carpet weaving, jewelry-making and gem-cutting, woodworking, ceramics, embroidery, calligraphy and miniature-painting. We have also restored the historic artisan neighborhoods of Murad Khani in the Old City of Kabul, including the restoration of over 150 historic homes and courtyards and the establishment of the Institute for Afghan Arts and Architecture. Through our community services in Kabul, we have also provided primary healthcare for over 250,000 patients.

1. Cleaning and Maintenance

• Clean and arrange all rooms on a daily basis.
• Dust all surfaces, including shelves and hard-to-reach areas.
• Vacuum carpets and wash floors regularly.
• Clean and disinfect bathrooms and restrooms thoroughly.
• Ensure restrooms are always stocked with sufficient supplies (soap, toilet paper, etc.).
• Collect and properly dispose of garbage daily.
• Maintain general cleanliness of the kitchen area and assist the cook with washing dishes after meals when required.
• Ensure all cleaning equipment is properly washed and maintained after use.

2. Facility Support

• Switch lights on and off according to office working hours and ensure lights remain off in unused rooms.
• Check heating systems during winter each morning and monitor them regularly throughout the day.
• Place carpets, blankets, mattresses, and pillows under sunlight for 4–5 hours weekly to prevent moisture and insects.
• Provide general care of the garden, including daily evening watering of grass and pathways.

3. Operational Support

• Arrive early to ensure all rooms and premises are clean before office hours.
• Replace colleagues in case of absence (leave or illness).
• Assist staff, including expatriate personnel, with reasonable tasks when requested.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School  education preferred
• At least 1 year of cleaning experience (preferred)
• Basic understanding of hygiene standards
