Afghan Peace Builders Humanitarian Organization APBHO has emerged as a non-governmental, non-political, not-for-profit organization in April 2019 with its long experience as a team (Youth Council) advocating for the rights of communities especially children and women affected by conflicts, and humanitarian crisis in fragile settings.

Job Descriptions:

The livestock trainer will play a key role in the implementation of an animal husbandry program by providing high-quality technical training and on-site support to beneficiaries. The purpose of this position is to empower returnees with practical and sustainable livestock knowledge and skills. The trainer will be responsible for conducting training workshops and monitoring progress in the field, .

Main responsibilities:

  1. Deliver hands-on training sessions on:
  • Basic animal health care and first aid
  • Common livestock disease identification and management
  • Improved feeding techniques
  • Seasonal livestock preparedness
  • Preservation and value addition of dairy, wool, and leather products
  1. Conduct regular household-level follow-ups to reinforce practical application of livestock training.
  2. Plan and execute outreach, deworming, and vaccination campaigns.
  3. Ensure effective utilization of distributed inputs (animals, feeds, seeds, veterinary tools).
  4. Provide technical guidance on stable rehabilitation and maintenance of livestock facilities.
  5. Promote animal welfare, hygiene, and safety practices during job site training.
  6. Assist with project beneficiaries’ registration and mobilization of communities prior to distributions and training activities.
  7. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and effective implementation of livestock-related activities.
  8. Support beneficiary selection and verification processes.
  9. Any other tasks assigned by the project manager.

Job Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Veterinary Science, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Practical vocational certification in livestock management may be accepted in place of formal education with strong experience.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in livestock training, animal husbandry, or community-based agricultural projects.
  • Proven experience delivering hands-on training to farmers or vulnerable communities (returnees/IDPs preferred).
  • Experience working with NGOs or humanitarian/development projects is a strong asset.

Training & Facilitation Skills

  • Strong ability to conduct community trainings and practical demonstrations.
  • Capable of preparing simple training plans and delivering sessions at household and group levels.
  • Able to monitor beneficiary progress and provide follow-up technical support.

Language Skills

  • Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto is required.
  • Basic English skills are an advantage.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Ability to maintain training records, attendance sheets, and basic field reports.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Word/Excel) preferred.
