About ACDO:

Asia Community Development Organization (ACDO) is an Afghan non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit humanitarian organization established in 2014 and registered with the Government of Afghanistan under the supervision of Ministry of Economy (MoEc) with a mission to provide humanitarian and development assistance to the vulnerable, at-risk, and underserved people throughout the country.

ACDO responds to the needs of deprived and marginalized rural and urban communities by managing and utilizing the available scarce resources in a well-organized, efficient, effective, transparent, and dignified manner to enhance resilience, boost access to education, health services, and infrastructure, ensure food and livelihood security, and promote social protection and inclusion.

ACDO has an active presence in most parts of the country and intends to expand its operations to the remaining provinces, as to transform itself into a leading and developed organization that will deliver to and support large number of people who have been affected by the long-protracted and sudden on-set emergencies and regardless of the hardest circumstances that exist in Afghanistan, ACDO has managed to deliver humanitarian and development assistance in most part of country.

Job Descriptions:

  • Conduct hygiene promotion sessions at household and community levels.
  • Carry out home visits to raise awareness on safe hygiene practices.
  • Train, guide, and supervise Community Hygiene Promoters (CHPs).
  • Organize and participate in hygiene campaigns and clean-up activities.
  • Support in the distribution of hygiene kits to target communities.
  • Conduct baseline and end-line KAP surveys for monitoring impact.
  • Collect technical information pre- and post-hygiene interventions.
  • Submit daily activity data to the Data Entry Clerk.
  • Provide inputs for weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
  • Work closely with the WASH Engineer and Project Manager on problem-solving.
  • Attend meetings and represent the project when required.
  • Perform any other related tasks assigned by the supervisor/SMT.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree holder with 2 years of relevant experience and 4 years of overall experience in the humanitarian context.
  • Experience in a relevant or similar position in humanitarian projects is required.

Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in Pashto and Dari, English skills will be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the community structure, dynamics, and development.
  • At least 4 years of experience working with government and/or NGOs in hygiene promotion in the fragile environment/region.
  • Knowledge of the value of education in Holy Islam, child development, and the current trends of education in Afghanistan.
  • Ability to cope well under pressure, work irregular hours, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Sound organizational skills and ability to prioritize and deliver assignments promptly often under severe time pressures.
  • Experience in needs assessment, project monitoring & evaluation, and program development
  • Good knowledge and experience in Afghanistan Humanitarian system/context, WASH and Emergencies.
  • Experience in coordination with government authorities, communities, donors, and beneficiaries.

Language skills:

  • Fluent oral and written skills in Pashto and Dari, fluent in English will be a plus point
