Job Descriptions:

Job Purpose:

He/ she will provide psychosocial support, basic GBV case management support to vulnerable population through individual counselling follow up support, referrals, psychosocial support group activities and dissemination of information on available services to encourage access to services.
She/he will collaborate with the MCHC in charge/ Training Officer oversee provision of psychosocial /group support, skills building with local partner, information sessions and other recreational activities to strengthen psychosocial support services.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Under the overall supervision of the HER project in charge of the BHC and the technical supervision of the MHPSS Technical lead of the implementing partner, the PSS Counselor will be responsible to:
1.
Provide psychosocial assessment and interventions in accordance with professional standards, both individually and in groups, for clients at the relevant health facility, through the identification of psychosocial problems and preparing them for receiving treatment.
2.
Provide individual and group services for clients in health facilities.
3.
Provide awareness-raising and psychoeducation for clients in health facilities.
4.
Perform assessment and interventions in compliance with the ethical standards of MHPSS.
5.
Actively participate in monitoring meetings with the mental health officer, midwife, community health supervisors, and, when needed, with community health workers.
6.
Work in a multidisciplinary team with health workers, doctors, and nurses in health facilities in mental health-related activities and attend regular team meetings.
7.
Record client information, organize related documents, register cases, and write case details in the casebook and specific register book and intake forms. Responsible for maintaining and confidentiality of all registered documents.
8.
Conduct open awareness-raising groups at the comprehensive health center level.
9.
Refer cases and track referrals through developed formal partnerships, follow-up mechanisms, and joint case management protocols with specialized facilities.
10.
Organize community-based awareness programs to identify and encourage individuals with psychosocial issues to seek treatment.
11.
Established a good working relations and network with health facility management team and mental health departments of the hospital for client referral.
12.
Submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the relevant department.
13.
Perform other tasks assigned by the responsible head of the health facility/ relevant department/supervisor.

As applicable to the position, maintains a clearunderstanding of International Medical Corps and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards. Conducts work with the highest levelof integrity.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:Possession of a certified and registered certificate of completion of a psychosocial counseling training course from the Ministry of Public Health, in addition to having an educational background with academic documents from one of the country’s universities or from the Ministry of Public Health’s intermediate educational institutes.

Desirable:Possession of a certified and registered certificate of completion of a psychosocial counseling training course issued by the Ministry of Public Health.

Experience: Extensive experience providing individuals and groups psychosocial support. Good proficiency in Dari and Pashto languages;

Competency:

Strong communication, problem-solving, and social skills; ability to plan treatment for psychosocial problems; having professional counseling skills; and familiarity with the country’s health system
