The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. Purpose
The WatHab Generalist Project Officer will play a pivotal role in supporting the management of detention related programmes by assisting the capacity development project manager to identify operational challenges related to infrastructure, operation and maintenance. The officer will contribute to the development of strategic and practical solutions in close coordination with the relevant detention authorities. This involves conducting thorough assessments of existing processes and systems to pinpoint areas for improvement, propose capacity building approaches, including in operation and maintenance field The officer will also be responsible for closely monitoring the implementation of relevant initiatives and activities, ensuring they are fully aligned with the various phases of the strategic framework. By doing so, the officer will facilitate the achievement of established milestones that contribute to the overall objectives of the project detention strategy.
Additionally, the officer will support other subsites in managing small to moderately critical infrastructure interventions across different specialties, ensuring their successful execution within defined constraints of scope, quality, time, and budget.
Furthermore, this position requires the officer to cultivate and manage relationships with all stakeholders involved, ensuring open lines of communication and collaboration. Based on this assessment of the context, the officer will also proactively oversee and identify capacity-building initiatives, carefully managing both human and material assets to optimize outcomes. Regular reporting will be an essential aspect of this role, necessitating the preparation of detailed progress updates and performance evaluations to keep all stakeholders informed and engaged
Scope & Impact
Manages regular (repeatable design already approved by thematic experts) and/or small (consolidated experience in the country) multi-disciplinary projects.
Supervises project workers activities.
