Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is one of the most comprehensive private, not‐for‐profit health care systems in the developing world with community health programs in large geographical areas in Central and South Asia, as well as in East Africa.

The Aga Khan Health Services, Afghanistan (AKHS, A) was established in 2003 as part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKHS, A provides health care services mainly on behalf of the government including the Ministry of Public Health’s of Afghanistan’s Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS). AKHS, A is unique both in scale and scope, delivering critical health services along the continuum of care, from Community Health Workers (CHWs) to ISO certified hospital facilities.

Since 2003 AKHS, A is implementing Healthcare services in Bamyan, Baghlan and Badakhshan provinces. The agency’s scope of work includes the provision of primary and secondary Healthcare, Preventive and curative medical care, Nursing and Midwifery education, Human Resources Development and Hospital Management. The current working modality and role of AKHS, A in Bamyan and Badakhshan provinces as BPHS and EPHS implementer. AKHS, A provides technical support as well as capacity building of health personnel, immunization services, nutrition trainings and the training of Community Health Nurses and Community Health Midwifery.

AKHS, A tapped into internal and other donor fundings to continue supplementary and complementary supports to the national health system. Moreover, AKHS, A scale up AKDN innovations, including, expansions of e-Health services, e-learning initiatives, and cross border arrangements. To promote healthy environment, AKHS, A is implementing net zero and greenhouse gas emission.

1. Conduct review of patients
2. Run clinics on a regular basis.
3. Monitor patient’s progress on a regular basis.
4. Attend to emergency cases when necessary.
5. Carry our emergency Dental procedures and non-emergency procedures.
6. Counsel patients and relatives on oral hygiene instruction and demonstration techniques.  Deletion oral habit.
7. Develop appropriate policies and procedures for patients’ health care to formulate best practice guidelines and participate in on-going clinical audit and governance activities.
8. Ensure timely availability of required support services in the process of treating patients, particularly when referred by other clinics and hospitals.
9. Liaise with surgeons on handling specialized cases in the provision of patients’ health care.
10.  Active involvement in marketing the Dental Clinic e.g. school checking, screening care.
11. Provide oral hygiene education and training of Dental Nurse Assistant
12. Participate constructively during appraisals, and be willing to give and take constructive criticism, when necessary, for professional growth
13. Maintain a warm and friendly relationship with employees. Associates, customers and suppliers.
14. Maintain an atmosphere of acceptance and support within the department and hospital.
15. Create, uphold and promote a positive hospital’s image and provide professional guidance to facilitate growth and development of the institution.
16. Ensure effective utilization of resources and provision of quality health care services in the hospital.
17. Implement infection prevention measures in Dental Unit.
18. Assist in dental equipment installation and management.

Education:              Medical Doctor.

Work Experience:  At least three years’ experience working as Dentist in hospitals particularly dental department.

Skill:               Good communication skill in both Dari and English and proven management ability.

Language:      Fluency at local languages.

General:         Bamyan local or willing to stay long in Bamyan
