About Bridge Hope Health Organization:

Bridge Hope Health Organization (BHHO) is a non-Profit and Non-Political community-based organization established by People who use drugs (PWUD) in May 2015.

Bridge Hope Health Organization (BHHO) was founded as a network for people who use drugs. BHHO’s remit has now expanded to include key populations affected by HIV and people living with HIV. The development of the network is informed by a community consultation undertaken with over 400 people who inject drugs and other key populations in May 2015. In addition, a situation assessment was undertaken to help BHHO understand the Afghan systems for planning and delivering harm reduction, drug treatment and wider HIV prevention services. This has helped inform the focus and remit of BHHO both as a community organization representing people who inject drugs, other key populations and people living with HIV. BHHO provide harm reduction service for key affected and effected population.

BHHO’s approach long-term sustainable health, economic, social life and development of men, women empowerment who use drugs. BHHO facilitates the clarification of local concerns followed by support to planning and implementation of local heath development initiatives. We have three core principles: Basic services to reinforce livelihoods, health, human rights and harm reduction and strengthen emergency assistance.

BHHO is implementing a project in partnership with UNODC in East Region (Laghman, Nangarhar and Nuristan provinces), the main purpose of the project is to improve quality of life, health, and livelihoods of children, men, women, adolescents, girls, and families at risk or affected by drug use and other negative health and social consequences.

Job Descriptions:

Main task for this position 

BHHO is looking for a person who has Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or other related disciplines or University degree in the health and having experience in managing projects as Project Coordinator to manage the Drop In Center activities, filed & outreach activities, and to coordinate the project activities with PPHD, BPHS, EPHS and other relevant stakeholders in Laghman, Nangarhar and Nuristan provinces.

Key Responsibilities

Management, development, planning, implementation

  • Being accountable and supervising the execution of programs
  • Being responsible for the proper application of HR policies and associated processes in the project (recruitment, briefing/debriefing, evaluation, staff learning and development and internal communication) in order to ensure both the sizing of the team and the amount of knowledge required for the project activities
  • Organize all the planned events in Nangarhar and Laghman provinces
  • Developed IEC materials on drug use prevention, mental health and family support in communities, displacement, and other challenging settings
  • Ensure that project activities are going in line with the action document, time frame and log frame of the project
  • Ensure that projects are resourced and implemented correctly, to the satisfaction of the client
  • Conduct regular budget follow up – and avoid over and under spent/expenses
  • Ensure compliance with the donor requirements during project implementation and reporting

Monitoring, evaluation, reporting

  • Responsibility to assist developing reporting tools design and implementation
  • Develop work plans and monitor progress and present monthly progress report
  • Conduct supervision visit to project implementation target sites 
  • Regularly visit outreach and filed activities in Laghman and Nangahar provinces
  • Develop project progress reports (monthly, quarterly, and project’s final report). 
  • Ensure effective documentation of program and progress by capturing lessons learnt and good practices.

Representation and partnership

  • Closely coordinate support to the Drug Treatment Centers (DTCs) in Laghman and Nuristan with the relevant bodies
  • Ensure collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse range of stakeholders, including PPHD, BPHS and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization in relevant meetings, and provincial and national forums 

Others

  • Conduct medical consultation if needed (if candidate is a medical doctor)
  • Monitoring and analyzing the political and humanitarian situation in the project area in order to identify the target’s health status and needs.
  • Other duties assigned by the supervisor

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or other related disciplines or University degree in the health.
  • Ability to show initiative, manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
  • Proven skills in effective team-work and leadership
  • Has proven self-management skill and maintaining deadlines.
  • Skills of very good communication
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills, with the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • At least two years experiences in managing similar projects
  • Understanding of drug prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation services
  • Experience of organizing awareness events
  • Afghanistan’s official languages (Pashto or Dari) are required.
  • Basic knowledge of English preferable.
  • Ability to travel to other provinces
