About Afghanistan Relief & Sustainable Development Organization (ARSDO)

Afghanistan Relief and Sustainable Development Organization (ARSDO) is a national, non-profit development organization established in 2017 and registered with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan (Registration No. 4190). ARSDO has a strong grassroots presence and extensive experience in designing and implementing community-based development and humanitarian interventions across Afghanistan.

Job Description

Job Purpose

The Midwife is responsible for providing quality maternal and newborn health services, including antenatal, delivery, and postnatal care, in accordance with national reproductive health guidelines and ARSDO/MoPH standards. She ensures safe delivery practices, promotes family planning, and contributes to improving maternal and child health outcomes in the community.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities

·       Provide antenatal care, including history taking, physical examinations, and health education.

·       Assist pregnant women during delivery and perform neonatal resuscitation when required.

·       Offer postnatal care, including examinations, counselling, and family planning services.

·       Maintain accurate records in registers, tally sheets, and HMIS forms.

·       Identify high‑risk pregnancies and refer complicated cases to higher‑level facilities.

·       Provide health education to women and families on pregnancy, delivery, nutrition, hygiene, and child care.

·       Participate in outreach sessions and community health awareness activities.

·       Ensure infection prevention and control (IPC) standards are maintained at all times.

·       Collaborate with doctors, nurses, vaccinators, nutrition counsellors, and CHWs to ensure integrated service delivery.

·       Prepare and submit monthly maternal health reports to the HF In‑Charge.

·       Perform any other duties assigned by the HF In‑Charge or Cluster Supervisor.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

·       Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery from a recognized institute (MoPH registration preferred).

·       Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in maternal and newborn health care.

·       Knowledge of reproductive health protocols, HMIS, and family planning methods.

·       Good communication and interpersonal skills.

·       Fluency in Pashto and Dari; basic English language understanding is desirable.

·       Effective communication and counselling skills.

·       Respect for cultural norms and confidentiality.

·       Ability to work independently and under supervision.

·       Standard working hours apply; flexibility may be required in emergencies.

·       May involve limited travel to nearby communities or outreach sessions.

·       Must adhere to ARSDO’s health and safety, gender, and child protection policies.
