About Muslim Hands International

Muslim Hands Afghanistan – MHA obtained formal registration from the Ministry of Economy in Afghanistan with registration No. 141 in 2005 and is now firmly established with its Headquarters in Kabul, and is fully engaged in relief and development activities in different parts of the country. The work of Muslim Hands in Afghanistan involves; improving the lives of poor and vulnerable through the provision of education, health, WASH, Protection, Livelihood, advocacy, Agriculture and other specialized projects e.g. rehabilitation of the disabled, water purification and sanitation schemes, orphan sponsorship scheme, income generation activities and emergency aid / relief activities in Afghanistan. Muslim Hands Afghanistan aims struggling its way to build a secured society through its core competencies including Health, WASH, Education, Emergency Relief, Food security, Livelihood and Protection. Muslim Hands Afghanistan was formed by a group of professionals and today it is blessed with +100 members include men, women and youth from different skill sets including medical professionals, Program and operation experts, and other professionals in non-profit sector. Muslim Hands Afghanistan is working under the effective leadership of nine national and international members of its board of trustees.

Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Head of Program, the Grants and Partnerships Coordinator is responsible for leading the proposal development team, securing institutional funding, strengthening strategic partnerships, and serving as the liaison with donors and partners to support organizational goals. The role will work to enhance program sustainability and effective collaboration to deliver high-quality humanitarian and development programs.

 

 Key Responsibilities:

 

1. Proposal Development and Grant Acquisition

  • Lead and coordinate the development of high-quality concept notes, proposals, and budgets in collaboration with program, MEAL, and operation teams.
  • Ensure all proposals align with organizational strategy, donor priorities, and compliance requirements.
  • Manage internal proposal development processes, timelines, and approvals to meet donor deadlines.
  • Maintain an organized repository of proposals, donor guidelines, and submission records.

 

2. Resource Mobilization and Funding:

  • Identify, monitor, and analyze funding opportunities from bilateral and multilateral donors, UN agencies, foundations, and institutional donors.
  • Develop and implement a resource mobilization and fundraising strategy aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Prepare donor mapping, funding pipelines, and regular funding status reports.
  • Proactively engage donors to promote the organization’s mandate, programs, and capacities.

3. Partnership Development and Collaboration

  • Establish, strengthen, and manage strategic partnerships with INGOs, NGOs, UN agencies, government counterparts, and other stakeholders.
  • Support the development and management of partnership agreements, MoUs, and consortium arrangements.
  • Promote joint initiatives, consortium proposals, and collaborative programming with partners.
  • Contribute to internal capacity building on partnership management and donor engagement.

4. Donor and Partner Liaison

  • Serve as the focal point for communication and coordination with donors and partners on grants and partnership-related matters.
  • Represent the organization in donor meetings, coordination forums, and partnership platforms.
  • Ensure effective information sharing and coordination between partners and internal teams.

5. Grant Oversight, Compliance, and Reporting Support

  • Support grant start-up processes, including donor requirements review, internal briefings, and coordination with relevant departments.
  • Monitor donor compliance requirements and flag potential risks related to grants and partnerships.
  • Contribute to donor reports by providing narrative inputs related to partnerships, fundraising, and grant performance.
  • Support grant amendments, cost extensions, and no-cost extension requests in coordination with program and finance teams.

6. Internal Coordination and Capacity Building

  • Work closely with program, finance, operations, MEAL, and senior management teams to ensure coherence across proposals, grants, and partnerships.
  • Build internal capacity through coaching, training, and guidance on proposal development, donor compliance, and partnership management.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of internal policies, tools, and systems related to grants and partnerships.

7. Knowledge Management and Organizational Learning

  • Capture lessons learned, best practices, and donor feedback related to proposals and partnerships.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of donor trends, funding mechanisms, and partnership models.
  • Contribute to organizational learning, strategy development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

8. Project Implementation and Development of Governance Documents, Oversight

  • Provide support for the effective implementation of projects, ensuring governance structures and oversight mechanisms are in place and functioning.
  • Support the preparation and review of governance-related policies and procedures to ensure they are aligned with agreed policies, guidelines, and donor requirements.
  • Ensure that implementation activities comply with donor strategies, policies, and reporting requirements, and facilitate adherence across all project components.
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to monitor compliance, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions on time.
  • Establish and maintain documentation for governance processes, decision trails, risk management, and issue escalation.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Management, International Development, and other relevant fields.  
  • 5 Years of Relevant experience in multi-sector program implementation/management and coordination with authorities;
  • Relevant experience in grants management, proposal development, fundraising and partnerships in the humanitarian and development sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in successful proposal writing and securing donor funding.
  • Experience working with institutional donors such as UN agencies, bilateral donors, and international foundations.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software

 

Other Skills:

  • Strong proposal writing, analytical, and budgeting skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of donor compliance and partnership modalities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and grant management systems.
  • An understanding of emergency protocols and safety guidelines.
  • High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen, and respect for colleagues.
  • Must be capable of working both individually and as part of a team

LANGUAGES:  

  • Excellent Language proficiency in spoken and written Dari, Pashto, and English.
