QC Engineer (Roster)

Kandahar Refugee Organization (KRO) is a national-level, non-political, non-profit, non-governmental organization working for humanitarian and rehabilitation roots in Afghanistan. Further, KRO is an Afghan organization that is committed to the development of the local economy and building local capacity for sustainable development. Thus, we have an established specialized network in many provinces of the country in order to design, implement related activities in the field of food security, research, capacity building, disaster management, and placement.

QA-QC Engineer should demonstrate strong analytical and logical thinking skills, display a superb work ethic, and thrive under pressure with strong leadership skills after joining KRO growing team. Field engineer provides technical advice about, plan, organizes and supervises construction projects. QA-QC engineer tends to have more specific, technical knowledge than site managers.

1. Provide support and guidance to the contractor and assists in resolving site problems, as necessary.
2. Assist with the development, and subsequent oversight, of QA/QC plan for construction, construction equipment and materials.
3. Conduct initial survey queries on sources to materials, ensuring quality and quantity of project construction material.
4. Have knowledge of basic health and safety procedures in the workplace. 
5. Coordinate with the Contractors and suppliers and inspect all materials delivered to site to ensure they meet the requirements of the project specifications.
6. Take corrective actions where the quality of materials delivered to site do not meet the specification requirements and prepare detailed reports on deliveries made to sites.
7. Check, verify and approve the interim payments submitted by the Contractors and submit detailed reports to the line supervisor.
8. Daily coordination of site work with the contractors and suppliers according to the needs and requirements on site.
9. Inspect and report on Contractor’s works in progress ensuring that the Contractor meets the high-quality standards.
10. Check contractors’ and suppliers set out and work, including compliance with Contract specifications and ensure that contractors and suppliers comply with their work plans to complete work within a specified time frame.
11. Ensure specific quality standards are constantly met at all levels of construction projects.
12. Attend the project site(s) daily to monitor progress of works, identify issues and problems and to provide appropriate solutions through application of sound engineering standards, in consultation with the line supervisor.
13. Prepare progress reports on construction activities, according to the agreed timeframe of works and submit them to the line supervisor.
14. Assess the work activities of contractors, measure completed work and make recommendations to the line supervisor for progress payments to contractors.
15. Maintain records systematically, compile periodic reports and any specific reports required for the project.
16. To ensure all the project activities are meet with project specification from start to end.
17. Perform any other tasks given by the line supervisor.

Job Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction or similar.

2. Over 3–5 years of experience in engineering and construction with national and international INGOs.s

3. Additional certificates or licenses may be required.

4. Sound knowledge of Engineering, construction, and design.

5. Great leadership and organizational skills.

6. Superb project management skills.

7. Ability to apply logical and critical thinking skills to projects.

8. Great written and verbal communication skills.

9. A willingness to learn.
