AAHO is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization (“NGO”) dedicated to improving the health status of the people of Afghanistan in general and the health status of the residents of Kabul Districts 6, 7, and 13, in particular, through the operation of the Afshar Hospital. 

Afshar Hospital is a 100-bed capacity hospital located in Omid-e-Sabz Township, Darulaman (District 6). The organization provides healthcare to all who seek care, irrespective of religion, race, gender, age, or ability to pay.

Purpose: To efficiently and effectively provide health education for a variety of age groups, in a variety of settings, by a method that ensures understanding and learning.  The goal of health education is to ultimately decrease the mortality rates of all age groups through improved hygiene and life skills.

Responsibilities:

• Work for Afshar Hospital during its official working hours.
• Develop health education programs for different settings, such as OPD, IPD, diabetic clinics, schools, and outreach clinics, focusing on healthy lifestyle choices.
• Enhance and customize curriculum development according to the needs of the community, considering Afshar Hospital and MOPH policies.
• Meet with patients/people to assess their health needs.
• Increase awareness of common health issues in the community.
• Teach people about behaviors, such as lifestyle changes, that can improve their health
• Travel to community facilities (school and outreach clinics) or individual people as needed.
• Explain what treatment options are available to patients.
• Outline what the treatment process would look like.
• Explore treatment plans based on factors like a person’s budget, schedule, and health goals.
• Perform data entry and administrative duties as required.
• Develops training aid materials and uses patient charts during the education program.
• Conduct a specific education program for tuberculosis and malnutrition cases.
• Prepare accurate reports of their activities.
• Updating educational material based on the needs of the program with coordination with the management team of Afshar Hospital.
• Carry out any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

• Female Afghan national.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Midwifery, Doctor of Medicine (MD), or a recognized and licensed qualification in Health Education.
• Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience in a similar role after graduation.
• Fluency in English, Dari, and Pashto languages. 
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to design and deliver health education sessions and materials.
