Job Descriptions:

To support the development of performance and quality improvement tools and approaches; provide professional supervision of all components of the SAFE project at the health facility level; ensure close collaboration with officers from other departments; and ensure full coordination with the operations team. The position will also oversee all BPHS components, as well as community-based disability, physical therapy, and mental health services, to improve mental health and disability care performance in Kandahar. This position will work under the direct supervision of the Deputy Technical Manager.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Work under the overall leadership of Deputy Technical Manager, as per the project agreement, in all catchment areas of Kandahar Province.

  • Ensure regular supportive supervision and provide technical inputs during field visits to all service delivery points in close coordination with other AAIWO provincial office team members.

  • Be responsible for monitoring and assessment of daily project activities at all service delivery points and provide constructive feedback and reports to the concerned project staff.

  • Represent AAIWO in various provincial-level health events and meetings, including health surveillance sessions, weekly and monthly PHO/PPHD meetings, and scheduled or emergency-based performance workshops at AAIWO’s Kandahar office.

  • Prepare and submit regular project reports and data according to the approved monthly action plan and field activities, under the leadership of the project focal point.

  • Work with project management, health facility-based distributors and measurers, and local community members in line with the organization’s general guidelines and the project scope of work.

  • Maintain records and documentation related to project performance and activities at both the health facility and project office levels.

  • Be responsible for improving the performance of distributors and measurers at the health facility level through regular on-the-job training, constructive feedback, and orientation on project tasks.

  • Collaborate with other vertical project staff, health facility staff, local PPHD, WHO, and other stakeholders to improve the quality of project activities.

  • Ensure active participation in scheduled and emergency field visits and joint supervisions with other stakeholders, regional office colleagues, and local PPHD members.

Job Requirements:

  • At least three (3) years of proven field experience in BPHS projects.

  • Medical Doctor (MD) degree.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Fluency in English, and Pashto, with excellent speaking and writing skills.

  • Proficient computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet design, and presentations.
