Afghan Alfouz Innovational Welfare Organization (AAIWO), established in 2018 and registered with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan (License #4465), is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering Afghan communities—especially women, children, and vulnerable groups—through health, education, social services, agriculture, and emergency aid. Partnering with the World Bank, UNICEF, WHO, WFP, and other UN agencies, AAIWO delivers impactful programs that improve livelihoods and promote sustainable, community-driven development across Afghanistan.
The EPI Supervisor assists in target setting, activity planning, staff training, and ensuring regular vaccine and supply availability. The position oversees implementation, identifies gaps, and proposes appropriate solutions for the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), as well as clinical laboratory and blood bank activities.
Specific Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing the annual action plan for supervision of all field activities based on the project work plan.
Conduct routine supervision and provide on-the-job training to vaccinators.
Ensure timely and continuous supply of vaccines to all related health facilities.
Assess and evaluate EPI activities to ensure compliance with approved plans, policies, and regulations.
Assist in feasibility studies of sites as required.
Conduct surveys on EPI target diseases within the target areas.
Assess and obtain a clear understanding of the essential technical and administrative needs of health facilities.
Identify staff training needs and capacity gaps.
Identify specific logistics needs, including vaccines, cold chain equipment, laboratory supplies, and related materials.
Ensure health facilities have functional and properly equipped vaccination units for both fixed and outreach services.
Review inventories and supply orders from health facilities.
Ensure availability of laboratory supplies and vaccines at all health facilities.
Manage and monitor outreach vaccination programs through regular field visits.
Supervise, evaluate, and follow up on the performance and output of vaccinators at health facilities and during outreach activities.
Ensure compliance with established norms, standards, and protocols.
Ensure laboratory and vaccination reports are properly prepared and submitted on time.
Provide on-the-job training and facilitate SAFE Project-related trainings for staff.
Coordinate external training and capacity-building opportunities for vaccinators and laboratory technicians in collaboration with relevant organizations.
Communicate all instructions from the field office to health facilities.
Conduct staff motivation and performance support activities.
Conduct meetings with authorities, community leaders, elders, and heads of households to enhance community participation and indirectly assess field activities.
Support non-SAFE Project staff during disease outbreaks and immunization campaigns.
Collect, compile, and submit activity reports and recommendations from field activities.
Ensure proper inventory management and maintenance of health facility assets.
Perform any other project-related tasks assigned within the scope of the SAFE Project.
Perform any other duties assigned by the line supervisor.
Minimum two (2) years of proven field experience in BPHS projects.
Medical Doctor or Nurse degree from a recognized institution.
Strong communication skills.
Fluency in English, and Pashto, with excellent speaking and writing skills.
Proficient computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet design, and presentations.
