Afghan Peace Builders Humanitarian Organization APBHO has emerged as a non-governmental, non-political, not-for-profit organization in April 2019 with its long experience as a team (Youth Council) advocating for the rights of communities especially children and women affected by conflicts, and humanitarian crisis in fragile settings.
Most of APBHO’s peacebuilding efforts focus on community-based conflict resolution and environmental peace-building on grass-root level. APBHO aims to shift repressive gender norms and equip citizens with the skills to resolve any type of differences and conflicts non-violently.
Afghan Peace Builders Humanitarian Organization (APBHO) strategically implements sustainable economic empowerment/asset creation, time-critical emergency responses with various commodities including Food and Non-Food Items, research, advocacy, and promotion of peace projects with a cross-cutting focus on youth and women.
The livelihood officer focuses on enhancing rural livelihoods and resilience of returnees in Kunduz province. The position aims to protect and stabilize livelihoods of the target beneficiaries by promoting income-generating activities. The livelihood officer will report to the project manager and will be responsible for planning, managing, and reporting on livelihood and income generated activities.
Main responsibilities:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, Economics, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Relevant vocational or technical training in livelihoods or enterprise development is an advantage.
Professional Experience
Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in livelihood programming, income generation, or community development projects.
Proven experience working with NGOs or humanitarian/development projects (preferably in rural settings).
Experience in market assessments, beneficiary targeting, and vocational skills programs is highly desirable.
Technical Competencies
Strong understanding of livelihood approaches, income-generating activities, and value chain/market linkage development.
Experience conducting baseline surveys, needs assessments, and market studies.
Ability to support business planning and small enterprise development.
Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation of livelihood interventions.
Training & Facilitation Skills
Ability to design and deliver awareness sessions and vocational trainings.
Strong facilitation skills for community meetings and beneficiary engagement.
Capable of providing technical guidance and follow-up support to beneficiaries.
Reporting & Computer Skills
Good reporting and documentation skills.
Basic to intermediate computer skills (MS Word, Excel, and email).
Ability to prepare activity reports and track project progress.
Language Skills
Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto is required.
Basic English skills are an advantage.
Personal Skills & Attributes
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently in field locations and as part of a team.
Good organizational and time-management skills.
Culturally sensitive with experience working with vulnerable communities (returnees/IDPs).
Willingness to travel within Kunduz province.
