About Community based humanitarian and development organization (CBHDO):

Community Based Humanitarian & Development Organization (CBHDO) is an Afghan non-governmental organization established in 2020, committed to supporting vulnerable and marginalized communities across Afghanistan. CBHDO delivers programs in Child Protection, Education, WASH, Health, Emergency Response, Nutrition, and Livelihoods.

CBHDO is partnering with Save the Children International (SCI) to implement the project “Child Protection Assistance for Vulnerable Populations Affected by the Earthquake in Eastern Region.” This project aims to provide lifesaving child protection services, psychosocial support, WASH facilities, and education support for earthquake-affected children and caregivers in Kunar Province.

Job Descriptions:

CCC Facilitators will directly support the daily operation of Child Friendly Spaces (CFS/CCC) and play a key role in delivering activities for children affected by the earthquake. The facilitators will work under the Child Protection Officer and Project Officer.

1. Child-Friendly Space Facilitation

  • Lead daily structured and unstructured activities for children including recreational play, arts, sports, storytelling, and informal learning.
  • Ensure activities are inclusive, gender-sensitive, disability-friendly, and safe for all children.
  • Maintain child attendance records and activity registers.

2. Psychosocial Support

  • Provide basic psychosocial support (PSS) to children through age-appropriate activities.
  • Identify children with psychological distress and refer them to SCI case management or MHPSS teams as needed.
  • Create a supportive and positive environment that promotes children’s emotional wellbeing.

3. Awareness & Learning Activities

  • Support delivery of awareness sessions on:
    • Hygiene promotion
    • EORE (Explosive Ordnance Risk Education)
    • Positive behavior
    • Safety and protection
  • Engage children in basic learning and recreational activities aligned with project guidance.

4. Monitoring & Safe Environment

  • Ensure the CCC/CFS remains clean, child-friendly, and properly equipped.
  • Conduct daily safety checks on playground equipment, materials, and WASH facilities.
  • Report any safety concerns, incidents, or maintenance needs immediately.

5. Support to Distributions

  • Assist in distributing:
    • Winterization kits (270 children targeted)
    • Teaching/learning materials
    • Recreational/play kits
  • Ensure orderly, transparent, and safe distribution procedures.

6. Community Engagement

  • Participate in outreach activities to encourage caregiver participation.
  • Support inclusion of girls, children with disabilities, and marginalized groups.
  • Coordinate with community mobilizers to strengthen local engagement with CFS activities.

7. Reporting & Documentation

  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reports on CCC/CFS activities.
  • Maintain child protection-sensitive documentation and confidentiality.
  • Support MEAL teams during monitoring and feedback collection.

8. Safeguarding & Code of Conduct

  • Ensure all activities comply with CBHDO and SCI safeguarding policies.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns immediately according to procedures.
  • Uphold CBHDO’s Code of Conduct at all times.

Job Requirements:

Education

  • Minimum: High school graduate (required).
  • Preferred: Diploma or coursework in Education, Psychology, Social Sciences, or Early Childhood Development.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with children in schools, community centers, NGOs, or CFS environments.
  • Experience facilitating recreational, educational, or psychosocial activities for children.
  • Experience in emergency response settings preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong facilitation skills with children of different ages.
  • Ability to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.
  • Good communication skills with children and caregivers.
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding principles (preferred).
  • Ability to work respectfully in communities and travel to field locations.
  • Fluency in Pashto; knowledge of Dari is an asset.
