Wastewater Treatment Design Engineer

The Wastewater Treatment Design Engineer will be responsible for conducting assessments of private towers, residential blocks using septic tanks, and swimming pools to evaluate their wastewater treatment needs. The engineer will design Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Solutions (DEWATS) while coordinating with relevant entities in Afghanistan, including municipalities, UWASS in Kabul, and SBUs.

• Assessment and Analysis:
  • Conduct meetings and needs assessments with stakeholders to evaluate current wastewater management practices in private towers, residential blocks, swimming pools and other relevant properties.
  • Analyze site conditions and develop effective solutions for transitioning from septic tank systems to DEWATS.
• Design Development:
  • Design DEWATS that comply with local regulations and environmental standards, ensuring efficiency and sustainability.
  • Utilize software tools such as AutoCAD, SewerGEM, or other related applications for the design of DEWATS and Fecal Sludge Treatment Plants (FSTP).
• Coordination and Collaboration:
  • Serve as the primary liaison with municipalities, UWASS, and SBUs , UN-Agencies and other relevant entities to ensure proposed designs are integrated into existing systems.
  • Work closely with local authorities to promote and facilitate the deployment of new wastewater treatment technologies.
• Project Management:
  • Oversee the execution of wastewater treatment projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Maintain clear communication with stakeholders regarding project updates, challenges, and solutions.
• Capacity Building and Training:
  • Develop and facilitate training programs for local staff and community members on the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment systems.
  • Engage in public awareness initiatives to promote the benefits of transitioning to DEWATS.
