These approaches are: (1) to design and implement the community development programs; (2) to provide primary and secondary health services according to the standards of the MOPH; and (3) to build capacities and skills of ordinary Afghanistan residences and professional of health sector.

 

Job Descriptions:

Position Overview:

The Project Coordinator will lead, coordinate, and oversee the effective implementation of RHDO’s integrated Primary Health Care (PHC) and Nutrition Project in Paktia and Helmand provinces. The role requires strong program management, technical oversight, and coordination skills to ensure that life-saving health and nutrition services reach returnees, host communities, women, children under five, and persons with disabilities living in underserved areas.

The obligatory will work closely with the Provincial Public Health Directorates (PPHDs), health and nutrition cluster and local authorities of Paktia and Helmand to ensure that project activities are implemented in line with RHDO policies, national guidelines, and donor requirements.

Job Description:

  • Lead, plan, and coordinate project all activities in both provinces in line with the approved work plan and donor requirements.
  • Coordinate project activity with PPHDs of Paktia and Helmand, RHDO’s Program Manager and other departments (HR, Finance, Procurement, Logistics, and MEAL) to ensure smooth project operations.
  • Coordinate and represent RHDO in meetings with PPHDs, PHCCs, and health and nutrition cluster partners to ensure effective collaboration and alignment with national priorities.
  • Strengthen community engagement by supporting Health Shuras and local leaders to promote service utilization, accountability, and inclusion of vulnerable groups.
  • Supervise provincial teams and ensure effective service delivery at all supported health facilities.
  • Ensure that all project activities are implemented according to the approved logical framework, work plan, and donor guidelines.
  • Conduct regular field visits to assess data accuracy, service quality, and compliance with project standards across all supported health facilities.
  • Compile and submit monthly and quarterly technical reports (narrative and statistical) to RHDO main office, MoPH, and relevant clusters, ensuring alignment with project indicators and logical framework targets.
  • Monitor project progress, entry and validate HMIS/nutrition data, and ensure timely submission of accurate reports.
  • Develop and monitor the project procurement plan in coordination with the logistics and procurement departments to ensure timely delivery of medicines, supplies, and equipment to all supported facilities.
  • Participate in financial review and expenditure tracking to ensure efficient resource utilization and compliance with the approved budget and donor requirements.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Graduate from a Medical University (MD Degree is essential)/MPH is highly preferable.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in managing health/nutrition projects, including 2 years in a BPHS project.
  • Strong knowledge of BPHS, IMAM, EPI, MHPSS, and HMIS systems.
  • Proven coordination and team management skills.
  • Excellent reporting, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Fluent in Pashto, Dari, and English; proficient in MS Office.
