The Community outreach volunteer will act as the main liaison between the border monitoring team and the affected border communities. The officer will carry out direct community engagement, conduct interviews with individuals crossing the borders (both inflow and outflow), monitor unofficial border points, and facilitate referrals of vulnerable individuals to appropriate services.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct inflow and outflow interviews with individuals crossing the border to gather key protection, humanitarian, and socio-economic information.
• Conduct interviews at unofficial border crossing points to document undocumented movements and identify associated protection risks.
• Facilitate referrals of vulnerable individuals (including unaccompanied minors, persons with disabilities, and others with specific needs) to relevant service providers and humanitarian actors.
• Lead regular community outreach and awareness-raising sessions in border villages and transit areas.
• Build strong working relationships with local leaders, community members, and authorities to enhance acceptance and trust.
• Collect, document, and report protection incidents, human rights concerns, and trends in cross-border movements.
• Conduct community consultations, focus group discussions (FGDs), and household-level interviews when required.
• Ensure that communication and outreach materials are adapted to the local context and languages.

• At least 14th in Social Sciences, low, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in protection, community outreach, or humanitarian fieldwork—preferably in border or displacement contexts.
• Strong knowledge of local geography, social dynamics, and informal/unofficial border crossing points.
• Prior experience in conducting interviews, referrals, or case documentation is highly desirable.
• Fluency in local languages (e.g., Pashto, Dari); working knowledge of English is an advantage.
• Proven ability to build trust within communities and work in culturally sensitive environments.
• Excellent interpersonal, interviewing, and facilitation skills.
• Strong ethical standards, with a commitment to humanitarian and protection principles.
