Johanniter International Assistance. (www.johanniter-int.org) is a German non-governmental organisation, dedicated to excellence in the field of first aid, ambulance service, social service programmes and other projects in the medical and social field. The Federal Headquarters are based in Berlin, Germany. Johanniter International Assistance is the operational unit for humanitarian aid, development co-operation and emergency relief, implementing and supporting mostly health projects worldwide.

Johanniter is working is Afghanistan since October 2002 providing emergency aid, rehabilitation of health facilities, medical care and capacity building for community health workers, students, teachers and professionals of NGOs and government agencies in disaster preparedness and first aid skills. Johanniter’s country office is located in Kabul and has operational coverage in the North, Northeastern and central region with possibility of expansion in the South and Western provinces of Afghanistan.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Screen children under five and pregnant/lactating women for malnutrition and refer identified cases to appropriate centers.
2. Conduct regular community-based health and nutrition education sessions, focusing on IYCF practices, hygiene, and nutrition behavior change.
3. Support the formation and supervision of community-based support groups and facilitate training and food demonstrations.
4. Collaborate with CHWs, religious leaders, and community elders to promote awareness on nutrition, integrating culturally and religiously appropriate messages.
5. Collect, compile, and report accurate nutrition data weekly and monthly, ensuring alignment with MEAL standards and follow-up of referred cases.
6. Participate in coordination meetings and training sessions with other sectors (FSL, WASH, Education) for integrated service delivery and referrals.
7. Build strong relationships with community members, mobilize local support, and encourage active participation in MHNT nutrition activities.
8. Perform other relevant duties assigned by the supervisor, including supportive supervision, field monitoring, and ensuring quality delivery of nutrition services.

Education:

Nursing, Midwifery Diploma.

Experience:

At least 2 to 3 years of experience in the field of health and nutrition.

Language Professions:

Proficiency in Dari or Pashto is required.
