About Afghan Family Guidance Association |AFGA:

Afghan Family Guidance Association (AFGA) is an Afghan non-governmental, not-for-profit and non-political organization established in 1968. AFGA has been working in the field of Reproductive health and Rights since its inception and has recently become an associate member of International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

AFGA activities were suspended due to war and conflict in the country for ten years (1992-2002) and resumed its activities in 2002 with financial support from International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

IPPF is an alliance of 151 family planning associations known as Member Associations which has projects in over 180 countries. IPPF continues to be the largest civil society provider of reproductive health information and services in the world.

Job Descriptions:

Implementation & Coordination:

Ensure effective and quality implementation of project activities and services of comprehensive Reproductive health services (RH) through the Family Health House.

Ensure proper coordination of service delivery with the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), UNFPA, and other agencies at the national level.

Participate in the coordination meetings and task forces in MOPH, other agencies, and line ministries at the national level.

Oversee the overall progress of the activities implementation and track the budget utilization as per the approved project work plan.

 Assist the project staff in organizing educational programs and service sessions in the coverage areas of the Project.

Develop protocols, screening tools, coping strategies, and safety plans in consultation with the Program Manager, Advocacy/Public Perception.

Provide program guidance and support to the health facilities and project staff.

Reporting:

Prepare progress reports every month and submit them to the program manager.

Report and communicate relevant issues with UNFPA relevant program staff.

Prepare periodic reports of the AFGA program and submit them to RHD / MoPH as required.

Collection, validation, and compilation of project-related reports as per AFGA and donor requirements.

Development of project technical monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as per AFGA and donor requirements.
Ensuring the quality and analysis of one functional MHL data and developing comprehensive technical reports as per AFGA and donor requirements.

Provide support and give inputs in the program's quarterly progress report (WPR) as per donor requirements. 

Preparation of project activities standard tracking sheet with considering project indicators along with budget utilization rate every month.

Participate and attend workshops/training at the National level representing AFGA.

Monitoring:

Undertake periodic reviews and supervision visits to ensure adherence to quality standards in the delivery of reproductive health services as per MoPH and UNFPA Service Delivery Guidelines.

Conduct regular supportive supervisory visits to AFGA FHHs, MHL services, and fistula treatment centers on a regular base or as per requirement.

Perform quality of Care survey in AFGA project sites and integrate the action plan for health facilities.

Planning:

Contributing to project annual, quarterly, and monthly plan development.

Provide support to the program manager for developing project proposals and plans.

Develop a project monitoring and supervision plan and find an action plan.

Developing project staff capacity building plan as per need assessment and staff need.

Development and maintenance of project quarterly action plan as per AFGA requirement.

Contributing to project budget plan development.

Any other program-related tasks assigned by the line manager from time to time.

 

Job Requirements:

Having an educational background in a health-related discipline preferably, medical faculty.

At least 3 years of proven experience in health project management particularly RMNCAH-related activities. Working experience in the same position with health project implementers in national and international NGOs is preferred.

Ability to speak and write in English.

Good skills in writing reports and planning on technical English language.

Previous experience with the FHH project will be preferred.

Holding Gyn/ Obs specialization will be a plus point.

Ability to conduct field visits as needed.

Ability to use computer programs (MS Office).
