About Concern Worldwide- Afghanistan:

Concern Worldwide is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries. Concern has been working in Afghanistan since 1998, when it responded to an earthquake disaster in Takhar province. Currently Concern is working in Takhar and Badakhshan provinces undertaking both emergency response and long term developmental work in the areas of agriculture, livelihood security, education and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. Concern is expanding its programming into nutrition this year. 

Job Descriptions:

Main duty and responsibility:

  • To coordinate RMNCH activities implementation (RMNCH) in target areas under the FHH project of Concern.
  • To asses and evaluate that RMNCH activities are implemented in accordance to plan and national standards in coordination with provincial and national partners.
  • Assess capacity building for midwives, Community Midwives, and Community Health Workers in RH and MHPSS to improve Health services at the community level.
  • Conduct on-job training to midwives and other staff during service delivery when requested to do so.
  • To provide monthly reports and respect submission deadlines.
  • To develop action plans to ensure an effective monitoring of RMNCH status in targeted health facilities.
  • To apply national treatment guidelines and policies at FHH level.
  • To ensure the existence of midwifery equipment, save delivery room and sufficient drug supply for FHH.
  • Ensure infection control and universal precautions are adhered to at the health facilities.
  • To support nutrition screening and monitoring of PLW (Pregnant and Lactating Women) at community level.
  • To ensure the existence of IEC (Information Education Communication) material for awareness sessions at community level.
  • To ensure basic RMNCH services at the FHH level and Community mobilization at the HPs level are delivered properly.
  • To ensure all complicated cases are referred to higher level of health facility as per Afghanistan referral system with a great follow up to strengthen the referral system.
  • To ensure effective communication and coordination with BPHS implementers.
  • To promote good coordination with other Concern units in the office.
  • To ensure that the program is implemented smoothly, the field-level RMNCH programs are monitored and evaluated against the MoU between Concern and MoPH.
  • To perform any other task assigned by the line manager.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • In coordination with the M&E team, develop weekly/monthly monitoring engagement plans.
  • To monitor and track implementation progress of the projects as per the approved performance indicators.
  • To ensure project progress and monitoring visit reports are shared with the M&E team and Project Manager.
  • To support M&E team during field assessments as and when necessary.

Emergency/ CHS (Core Humanitarian Standards):

  • Concern is committed to CHS to ensure downward accountability. CHS standards guide Concern activities in all stages both emergency and development projects /programs. In Afghanistan, we also bounded our activities by Accountability framework and therefore any Afghanistan employees is responsible to comply with CHS principles and benchmarks as instructed by its policies and therefore make sure that all accept and implement CHS standards in all our activities.
  • To give full support in relation to emergencies/ humanitarian operations when occurring in any area that Concern Afghanistan will respond. This can include but is not limited to participation in the Concern Afghanistan Rapid Deployment Unit (CARDU) and deployment on emergency response teams.

Job Requirements:

Qualification & Experience: 

  • Health Professional (Doctor/Midwife).
  • MD degree is preferred

Work Experience:

  • At least 3-year experience in RMNCH programming, especially in FHH modification will be an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of BPHS and EPHS program 
  • Previous experience in Takhar and Badakhshan province is an advantage.
  • Experience working with NGO in development and/or humanitarian responses in the areas of health.

Communications:

  • Effective communication skills and ability to lead big to medium teams, also remotely (if necessary)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Good communication skills (written and spoken) in Dari & English
  • Excellent knowledge of English language.

  • Demonstrated skills in health management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good leadership skills Computer skills: Good knowledge of Ms Office package

Capability to conduct field visits within the project area.
