Job Description

  • The Social Worker is responsible for providing direct support to vulnerable children and families through assessment, case planning, and follow-up. The position ensures that children at risk receive appropriate protection, psychosocial support, and access to essential services. The Social Worker works closely with communities, case workers, and service providers to promote children’s safety and well-being in accordance with child protection standards and procedures.

    Duties and Resposibilities:

    • Identify and assess children at risk through community outreach and referrals.
    • Develop case plans with clear actions to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
    • Provide counseling and emotional support to children and their families.
    • Refer cases to appropriate services such as health, education, legal aid, or psychosocial support.
    • Follow up regularly with cases and update case files using the CPIMS+ system.
    • Work with community-based child protection networks (CBCPNs) to identify and prevent child protection risks.
    • Raise community awareness on child protection issues, including PSEA and child rights.
    • Support community initiatives that promote a protective environment for children.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential case documentation and reports.
    • Document best practices, challenges, and lessons learned.
    • Coordinate with other social workers, case workers, and project teams to ensure effective service delivery.
    • Participate in meetings, training, and supervision sessions.

Job Requirements

  • High School graduate Bachelor degree preferred
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar position, implementing child protection programs, preferable social work or case management, in humanitarian or development settings.
  • Being a local resident of Helmand (Lashkargah, Kajaki, Garamsir, Nawzad, Bahramcha, Musa Qala, Nahre-saraj).
  • Fluent in Dari Pashto and English written and spoke
  • Commitment to serving children, do no harm and best interests’ principles.
  • Strong believers in children being agents of change in their communities.
  • Demonstrated understanding of working with children and particularly vulnerable children.
  • Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure well and work in cross-cultural setting.
  • Strong believers in children being agents of change in their communities;
  • (Including MS Word, Excel, Access, and internet) an advantage
  • Ability to work closely, professionally, and constructively with all others regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, race, tribe, or cultural background
