Way of Hope to Life Organization (WHLO) is a non-profit, non-political, and non-governmental organization founded by 2002 by a group of Afghan intellectuals and youth with a shared vision of creating meaningful empowerment and a brighter future for Afghan communities. WHLO is officially registered with the Ministry of Economy under registration number 480.

Over the past 23 years, WHLO has successfully implemented more than 250 projects across Afghanistan in the areas of: Education, Health, Food Security & Livelihood, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and Community Development.

WHLO strongly believes in human rights-based development, humanitarian cooperation, accountability, equality, and non-discrimination. Guided by these values, WHLO has earned a reputation as a trusted implementing partner among local communities, government stakeholders’ international donors.

Job Description

Job Summary:

           The Youth/Peace Building Officer supports activities that promote peace, reconciliation, and conflict resolution in communities.

           He works with local leaders, stakeholders, and partners to encourage dialogue and build strong relationships.

           He organises peacebuilding activities, monitors progress, and documents results to support positive social change.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

           Plan and implement peacebuilding activities with stakeholders in line with project goals.

           Facilitate community dialogues, workshops, and training on conflict resolution, peacebuilding, and reconciliation.

           Support local peacebuilding efforts by guiding community leaders, civil society groups, and volunteers, while monitoring progress and recommending improvements.

Community Engagement:

           Build and maintain good relationships with community members, local leaders, and other key stakeholders.

           Visit project sites regularly to listen to community needs, concerns, and perspectives.

           Encourage community participation by supporting inclusive decision-making and organising meetings for dialogue and conflict resolution.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:

           Develop and use monitoring and evaluation tools to track the progress and impact of peacebuilding activities.

           Collect data to measure results and identify areas for improvement.

           Prepare clear reports and document success stories, lessons learned, and best practices for sharing.

 Networking and Partnerships:

           Identify and engage partners such as local organizations, government agencies, and NGOs to strengthen project impact and sustainability.

           Work with external stakeholders to mobilize resources, expertise, and support for project activities.

           Represent the organization in meetings and events, while building strong relationships for coordination and knowledge sharing.

           To carry out the responsibilities of the role in a way which reflects WHLO’s commitment to protecting children in accordance with the Child Safeguarding Policy

 

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications and Experiences: 

           Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

           2–3 years of experience in peacebuilding or conflict resolution.

           Good knowledge of human rights, humanitarian law, and child protection.

           Understanding of local culture, social norms, and political context.

           Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to work in sensitive environments.

           Fluency in Dari, Pashto, and English, and experience working with government and NGOs.
