About Accessbility Organization for Afghan Disabled (AOAD)

Accessibility Organization for Afghan Disabled AOAD is a non-governmental, nonprofits and non-political organization established by Person with Disability with the aim of working and advocating for persons with disabilities, their immediate family members, and vulnerable people with gender equality as a peer-supporter in May 2007 in Kabul and registered with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan with the registration No: 956.

 AOAD played a vital role in working and delivering of service to most marginalized and vulnerable groups and have multi year’s rich experience of work in 18 provinces of Afghanistan including Kabul, Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunar, Khost, Paktia, Paktika, Logar, Uruzgan, Bamyan, Helmand, Herat, Kandahar, Parwan, Balkh, Jawzjan, Ghazni and Wardak province of Afghanistan.

AOAD is active stakeholder with humanitarian’s country Team (HCT/OCHA, ACBAR and the Afghan CSO’s Network which fully contributed on all activities.

Recently AHF/OCHA conducted Capacity Assessment of AOAD and fortunately received its Eligible Certificate as partner for AHF/OCHA funding.

AOAD has a zero-tolerance approach to the AOAD Code of Conduct including safeguarding, child protection, SEA, and Fraud violations being committed by its staff, consultants, contractors, volunteers, interns, suppliers, vendors, sub-grantees/partners, implementing partners or any other associate.

Organization Context:

AOAD was established through a with its own Disability experts to advocate for the rights of Afghans with Disabilities and their family members with special respect to women/girls with Disabilities and children in Afghanistan, the overall vision of AOAD is to (LEAVE NO One Behind).

AOAD with a deep understanding of challenges from Afghanistan society developed its programming portfolio to provide services for Persons with Disabilities with gender and Disability equality in the below thematic areas,

· Gender & Disability inclusion in the humanitarian and development agenda of Afghanistan.

· Capacity building, knowledge sharing, and recreational skills development for women/girls with Disabilities and their immediate family members.  

· Service Delivery for Persons with Disabilities, their immediate family members, and vulnerable groups of society in the field of humanitarian, basic health service, Physical Rehabilitation, and Physical Accessibility for inclusive environments to live everyone in equality and dignity.

AOAD is a committed organization with the vision/mission with full respect to international Humanitarians law (IHL), the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities UNCRPD and agreements with close coordination with national and international organizations, government entities, and communities implemented 95 projects in the 18 provinces.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

· Assess the patient, taking care to write detailed assessment cards with history, problem list, long and short-term goals, and treatment plan.

· Undertake suitable treatments and follow up as appropriate; treatment may include patient education, use of exercises, mobilization, and other physical modalities such as electrotherapy. 

· Undertake in-patient treatment and gait training of patients received orthopedic appliances.

· Refer patients to other specialties such as orthopedic services as appropriate 

· Prescribe and measure suitable walking aids and wheelchairs as appropriate 

· Use all physiotherapy equipment, supplies, and machinery properly and safely, take care of them, and keep them clean 

· Be punctual and professional in working practice and follow the requirements of the administration on time-keeping, report writing, and preparation of any necessary documents.

· Follow up with patients in home-based visits or outreach programmers as appropriate.

· Cooperate with relevant medical and health personnel in the best interest of the patient.

· Provide training to family trainer, and community health workers on basic exercises as appropriate.

· Supervise PTAs in the treatment and follow-up of patients.

· prepare monthly statistical reports.

· any other duties commensurate with the level as instructed by the line manager.

Job Requirements

· Recognized 3 years Diploma in Physiotherapy bachelor will be preferred.

· 2-3years' relevant experience, especially within an NGO, UN agency or similar organization. Clinical experience in physical Rehabilitation is a must.

· Computer skills at the operator level, especially with MS Office packages.

· Fluency in English, Dari, and Pashto, both written and spoken

· Interpersonal and communication skills

· Team worker. Analytical and Troubleshooting skills

· Experience in planning, and reporting

· Ability and willingness to travel to the project sites within Afghanistan and adjust to the AOAD environment.

· Honest, proactive, and well-mannered.     

· To be an Afghan National.
