Tdh has been working in Afghanistan since 1995 and carry out projects related to Child Protection, Mother and Child health and Livelihood Programs in Kabul, Balkh, Kunar and Nangarhar provinces

Job Summary :

The midwife will offer the Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health services including Antenatal care, postnota care, Family planning and delivery services to pregnant and lactating women attending the health facility. In addition, she will be responsible to provide health education on reproductive health to pregnant and lactating women during their health facility.

Main responsibilities:

• The midwife will provide antenatal care services to pregnant and lactating women attending the health facility in accordance with MoPH guidelines.

• The midwife will provide postnatal care services to pregnant and lactating women attending the health facility.

• She will provide health education to pregnant and lactating women on reproductive health and maternal nutrition.

• To provide family planning services to women

• To carry out normal deliveries in the health facility and refer complicated delivery cases to nearby health facilities

• To advise on micronutrient and folic acid supplementation to women of childbearing age attending the health facility

• To set targets for ANC, PNC, family planning, and deliveries in the health facility, considering the catchment area population of the health facility.

• To maintain the registration of ANC, PNC, FP, and deliveries in their registers accordingly

• To provide monthly reports of their interventions on a regular basis and submit them to the health facility in charge for further compilation.

• To ensure good coordination with family health action groups

• To provide training to family health action groups when required

• To maintain records of referred cases.

• To comply with Tdh policies and procedures during working hours.

• To participate in health facility-level meetings and forums.

• To participate in trainings organized by Tdh and other stakeholders

• Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Education :

Graduated from a recognized midwifery institute; a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Passed the MoPH exit exam.

Experience / Skills :

Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a midwife in BPHS or other health facilities. Experience of working with national non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and international non-governmental organizations (INGOs).

Preference will be given to local candidates who meet the required criteria and successfully complete the full recruitment process; however, being a local candidate alone does not provide any advantage.

Languages:

Written and Spoken fluency in Local languages.

IT knowledge :

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
