World Vision International (WVI) began emergency relief operations in Afghanistan in 2001 by addressing the urgent needs of children and families affected by natural disasters and decades of conflict. More than a decade later, World Vision Afghanistan’s (WVA) programs have expanded to development sectors such as health, nutrition, WASH, child protection, and education, empowering women to engage in civil and social change through interfaith partnership.

WVA targets the most vulnerable in its interventions; including children, women, Internally Displace Persons (IDPs), and returnee refugees, as well as the most impoverished and marginalized families. These priorities have been chosen to contribute to our Goal of: “Improved survival and well-being of Afghan girls and boys, building the foundations for a better future for Afghan children and their communities.” 

Our work is well established in Herat, Badghis, Ghor, and Faryab provinces in the western region of Afghanistan. We work closely with all levels of society including children, parents, teachers, village councils, religious leaders, ministries, provincial departments, and other national and international agencies.

JOB PURPOSE:
Purpose of this position is to provide safety and security for the Kabul liaison office. This position is working under the direct supervision of SSR Associate.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensure that the Kabul liaison office is protected from burglaries, arson, theft, acts of terrorism, etc.
2. The security guard must always be awake and frequently patrol the compound during duty hours.
3. Ensure to properly body check all visitors and submit a visitor card for them
4. Keep the log of all WV vehicles while going in and out of the compounds
5. Ensure that vehicles are checked and inspect properly before Entering into the WV premises
6. Report immediately to the supervisor if suspicious person or object was seen
7. Always be in uniform while on duty
8. Ensure to use call sign while talking on the radio
9. Monitor the CCTV Camera 24/7
10. Ensure vehicles do not park in unauthorized area outside the main compound gates
11. Provide first aid for the staff during emergency situation
12. Perform any other official duty required by the line manager.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
• Able to read and write in Dari/Persian
• Thorough knowledge of being a Security Guard
• Understanding of basic English is required.
• Must be physically and strongly fit.
• Ability to work at night.
• Ability to work overtime.
• Ability to control the situation especially during emergency situation.
• Building collaborative relationships.
• Must be committed to World Vision core values and goals.
