Job Description

Position Summary:

The Medical Director provides leadership and oversight for all clinical services within the hospital to ensure high-quality patient care consistent with national clinical guidelines and international standards. He/she work closely with hospital director in provision of Hospital technical and management plan, support the hospital director in conducting morning report, monthly hospital board. Work closely with all departments in administration of HQIP, Hospital Medical Standard and standard of Infection prevention. He/she ensured that the consistence and accuracy of hospital data is 100%, work to improve the quality of services, achieve the target  indicators, ensure that the resources particularly the medicines and consumables utilized properly, ensure that the RUD is applied, increased patients/clients satisfaction, ensure the patients files filled correctly and completely, Improve indication for hospitalization, ensure that the BOR of the hospital, Length of Stay of patients are based on standard, ensure from the functionality of all related committees in the hospital including death review committee, IPC committee, Quality improvement Committee, MNDSR committee and etc.

Essential Responsibilities And Duties:

  • Assist the Hospital director in the scope of implementation of the hospital planned activities.
  • Lead and supervise all medical departments.
  • Ensure implementation of national treatment protocols.
  • Work closely with all department specialists to improve quality of services.
  • Provide guidance to doctors, nurses, and clinical staff.
  • Review complicated medical cases and Ensure proper diagnosis and treatment practices.
  • Ensure appropriate patient referral systems.
  • Lead morbidity and mortality review meetings.
  • Monitor adherence to patient safety protocols.
  • Organize medical training sessions for staff.
  • Mentor junior doctors and clinical staff.
  • Ensure continuous professional development.
  • Coordinate with hospital administration for clinical resource needs.
  • Support and supervise, monitor the SAFE project hospital staff and provide on Job training and feedback to them for improving the quality of services.
  • Ensure proper implementation of the MOPH/WHO IPC (Infection prevention control) standards and guidelines in every HFs.
  • Provide monthly and based on emergency need on time reports to Hospital director in close coordination with head of the department.
  • Update the hospital director about the status of the project, progress and challenges.
  • Review the monthly report and ensure that the report to donor will be submitted on time.
  • Analyze and compare the P4P achievement with the target on monthly basis, find the gaps and ensure that the maximum target is achieved.
  • Support the provincial SAFE project hospital technical team in provision of PIP.
  • To ensure from the quality of care implemented at all level of Services in coordination with hospital technical and management team.
  • Improve consistence and accuracy of data to 100%.
  • Apply Hospital Medical Standard, HQIP and IPC standard.
  • Ensure the RUD is applied and avoid misuse and abuse of medicines and consumables.
  • Adherence to all organizational policies and procedures as outlined in RIs’ policies and procedure manuals.
  • Conduct him/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to RI and not to jeopardize its humanitarian mission.

Any other tasks assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirements

  • Graduated from recognized Medical University.
  • Having specialty in one of the medical field.
  • Minimum 5 year’s NGO/INGO experiences, in the capacity of medical director of the hospital and project management.
  • Demonstrates a systematic and efficient approach to work.
  • Works collaboratively with team members to achieve results.
  • Should be a Team player.
  • Good command of English and relevant local language, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to organize & priorities workload independently, using initiative when appropriate.
  • Honesty.
