Job Description

The Project Officer will support day-to-day implementation of the Education Workforce Skills Programme in Logar and Maidan Wardak, helping ensure activities are delivered on time, according to plan, and in line with organizational and donor requirements. The Project Officer will contribute to planning, activity follow-up, reporting, beneficiary tracking, and overall project quality.

Key Responsibilities of Project Officer

  • Support the overall planning, implementation, and day-to-day coordination of project activities in the target provinces and training centers.
  • Assist the Project Manager in ensuring that project activities are implemented according to the approved work plan, timeline, budget, and donor requirements.
  • Coordinate closely with Training Instructors, Master Trainers, Mentor/Coaches, Community Mobilizers, and M&E staff to ensure smooth delivery of programme activities.
  • Facilitate the organization and implementation of youth selection, registration, orientation, training sessions, internship placement, and follow-up activities.
  • Maintain strong coordination with relevant education authorities, school representatives, private learning centers, and community stakeholders for effective implementation of the programme.
  • Monitor field-level progress and provide regular updates to the Project Manager on achievements, challenges, risks, and required actions.
  • Support the establishment of transparent and inclusive beneficiary selection processes, with due attention to female participation and vulnerable youth.
  • Ensure that training center activities are conducted in a safe, organized, and professional manner and in line with project objectives.
  • Follow up on the implementation of the four-month training phase and the two-month supervised internship phase to ensure quality and continuity.
  • Support coordination of internship placements with nearby primary schools and private learning centers in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in tracking participant attendance, participation, retention, performance, and completion throughout the programme cycle.
  • Work closely with the M&E team to ensure timely collection, verification, and submission of project data, reports, and supporting documents.
  • Prepare regular activity reports, field updates, success stories, lessons learned, and other project documentation as required.
  • Identify implementation challenges in a timely manner and propose practical solutions to improve efficiency and project results.
  • Ensure that project activities are implemented in accordance with WYFAO policies, donor compliance requirements, safeguarding standards, and relevant operational procedures.
  • Promote gender equity, inclusion, accountability, and community engagement throughout all stages of project implementation.
  • Support visibility, coordination meetings, monitoring visits, and other operational tasks related to effective project delivery.
  • Perform any other project-related duties assigned by the Project Manager.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Education, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Development Studies, or another relevant field.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in project implementation, education programming, youth development, community-based projects, or a similar role with NGOs or development organizations.
  • Good coordination, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage field activities, maintain records, and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of project implementation processes, activity planning, reporting, documentation, and field-level coordination requirements.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, travel to field locations, and meet deadlines in challenging operational environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving ability, and commitment to teamwork, accountability, and professional conduct.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality, non-discrimination, and compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements.
  • Previous experience working with education authorities, schools, private learning centers, or donor-funded education and skills programmes is an advantage.
