Job Description
The Master Trainer will provide overall technical leadership for the Education Workforce Skills Programme in Logar and Maidan Wardak by designing, standardizing, and delivering high-quality instructional training for youth beneficiaries and by strengthening the capacity of training instructors and field teams.
Roles & Responsibilities
1- Technical Leadership and Training Quality:
- Lead the technical delivery of the training component of the Education Workforce Skills Programme, ensuring that all sessions are aligned with the approved curriculum, learning objectives, and instructional standards across programme locations.
- Provide technical guidance to training instructors and relevant project staff to ensure consistent, practical, learner-centered, and gender-sensitive delivery of training modules focused on classroom support, literacy, numeracy, child-friendly teaching, and professional conduct.
2- Curriculum Planning and Training Material Development:
- Review, adapt, and strengthen training modules, lesson plans, session guides, handouts, practical exercises, and other learning materials required for effective implementation of the programme.
- Ensure that instructional content remains relevant, well-structured, and responsive to the practical competencies required for youth transitioning into instructional support roles within schools and private learning centers.
3- Capacity Building and Coaching of Trainers:
- Train, mentor, and coach training instructors and related staff on effective facilitation techniques, lesson planning, learner assessment, classroom management, and practical teaching demonstrations to strengthen quality and consistency of delivery.
- Conduct regular observation, review, and feedback sessions for instructors and support continuous improvement in teaching performance, methodology, and use of training tools.
4- Training Delivery and Demonstration Sessions:
- Deliver selected sessions, model lessons, demonstration classes, and practical learning activities for beneficiaries as needed, especially on complex technical topics and instructional methods that require senior facilitation support.
- Guide trainees through classroom simulations, micro-teaching, peer learning, and supervised practice exercises to strengthen their readiness for internship placement and entry-level work in the education sector.
5- Assessment, Learning Review, and Internship Readiness:
- Oversee pre-tests, post-tests, practical assessments, observation checklists, and other learning measurement tools to monitor trainee progress and ensure that instructional quality standards are achieved.
- Support beneficiary readiness for supervised internships by reinforcing expectations related to professional behavior, lesson support techniques, reporting, safeguarding, and coordination with host institutions.
6- Coordination and Technical Support:
- Coordinate closely with the Project Manager, M&E Officer, training instructors, community mobilizers, and other relevant stakeholders to support the timely and effective implementation of training and internship preparation activities.
- Provide technical recommendations on training schedules, participant support, learning challenges, material improvement, and programme adjustments to strengthen training outcomes and overall project performance.
7- Reporting, Documentation, and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate records of technical training support, trainer coaching, session observations, training reviews, and learner performance trends, and submit timely updates and reports to the supervisor.
- Ensure all activities are implemented in accordance with safeguarding principles, child protection standards, organizational policies, and donor requirements, while promoting safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environments.
8- Any Other Supportive Duties:
- Support training reviews, field visits, internship follow-up, quality assurance processes, and other technical programme activities as assigned by the supervisor or senior management.
- Carry out any other relevant responsibilities required for the effective and high-quality implementation of the Education Workforce Skills Programme.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Teacher Training, Pedagogy, Curriculum Development, Social Sciences, or another relevant field; higher qualifications are preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in training delivery, teacher training, instructional supervision, curriculum implementation, or education programme facilitation, preferably with NGOs or workforce development initiatives.
- Strong technical knowledge of teaching methodologies, lesson planning, facilitation techniques, classroom management, learner assessment, and practical instructional support approaches, especially for early grade literacy and numeracy.
- Demonstrated experience in coaching, mentoring, and building the capacity of instructors or facilitators, with the ability to provide constructive feedback and improve training quality.
- Ability to review and develop training materials, monitor learning performance, organize technical documentation, and contribute to programme improvement through practical recommendations.
- Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with youth beneficiaries, training staff, education stakeholders, and community representatives.
- Commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality, non-discrimination, and professional conduct when working with youth participants and partner institutions.
- Previous experience in teacher development, vocational or workforce skills programmes, instructional support initiatives, or internship-based education projects is highly desirable.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in written and spoken Dari and Pashto is required; knowledge of English is an advantage.
