About Accessbility Organization for Afghan Disabled (AOAD)

AOAD (Accessibility Organization for Afghan Disabled) is a national disability-led organization registered with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan under license number 956. The organization works to advocate for the rights and meaningful inclusion of persons with disabilities in all aspects of society. AOAD promotes equal access to health, education, social services, and community participation, and supports initiatives that strengthen the dignity, empowerment, and well-being of persons with disabilities across Afghanistan.

AOAD is seeking qualified male and female Disability Needs Assessment Surveyors (couple-based) to conduct field data collection for identifying persons with disabilities and assessing their needs in target communities.

Surveyors will collect data using digital tools and standardized disability assessment questionnaires including KoBo Toolbox and the Washington Group Short Set Questionnaire.

The survey team must consist of one male and one female surveyor who are Sharia Mahram.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct household and community surveys to identify persons with disabilities.
• Collect disability-related data using KoBo Toolbox or other digital data collection tools.
• Apply the Washington Group Questionnaire for disability identification.
• Record and verify accurate information on disability types and service needs.
• Coordinate with community leaders, health staff, and local authorities.
• Ensure proper data quality, confidentiality, and ethical data collection practices.
• Submit completed surveys and reports to the project team.
• Support community awareness and communication during the survey process.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Public Health, Social Sciences, Community Development, Statistics, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in surveys, data collection, or community-based programs.
• Experience using KoBo Toolbox or other digital data collection platforms.
• Knowledge of the Washington Group Disability Questions is preferred.
• Strong communication and community engagement skills.
• Ability to travel to districts and rural communities.

Mahram Requirement

• Surveyors must work as a male–female pair (Sharia Mahram) to allow culturally appropriate field work and safe access to households.
