Job Description
Position Summary:
The Infection Prevention Officer ensures the implementation of infection prevention and control practices to reduce healthcare-associated infections and maintain a safe hospital environment. The IP officer/supervisor is responsible for HCWM in the hospital as well as in all HFs, he has to ensure that the three color waste bins is available and use properly in all section of the hospital, ensure that the incinerators and placenta pits are functional and properly used, ensured all points of health care waste management is considered in the hospital and HFs, provide on job training for the technical and management team on IPC and HCWM on how to deal with properly. He has to ensure to apply all the points of IPC in the hospital.
Job Requirements
- Essential Responsibilities And Duties:
- Implement hospital infection prevention policies.
- Ensure compliance with MoPH infection prevention guidelines.
- Support and supervise, monitor the SAFE project hospital staff and provide on Job training and feedback to them for improving the quality of services.
- Conduct regular infection control assessments.
- Monitor sterilization and disinfection procedures.
- Supervise medical waste segregation and disposal.
- Ensure waste is handled according to national regulations.
- Conduct training sessions on infection prevention.
- Promote hand hygiene and proper use of PPE.
- Monitor infection rates within the hospital.
- Report outbreaks and support response measures.
- Ensure proper implementation of the MOPH/WHO IPC (Infection prevention control) standards and guidelines in every HFs.
- Support the provincial SAFE project hospital technical team in provision of PIP in related to IPCs.
- To ensure from the quality of care implemented at all level of Services in coordination with provincial project management team.
- Adherence to all organizational policies and procedures as outlined in RIs’ policies and procedure manuals.
- Conduct him/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to RI and not to jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
Any other tasks assigned by the line manager.
