Muslim Hands Afghanistan – MHA obtained formal registration from the Ministry of Economy in Afghanistan with registration No. 141 in 2005 and is now firmly established with its Headquarters in Kabul, and is fully engaged in relief and development activities in different parts of the country. The work of Muslim Hands in Afghanistan involves; improving the lives of poor and vulnerable through the provision of education, health, WASH, Protection, Livelihood, advocacy, Agriculture and other specialized projects e.g. rehabilitation of the disabled, water purification and sanitation schemes, orphan sponsorship scheme, income generation activities and emergency aid / relief activities in Afghanistan. Muslim Hands Afghanistan aims struggling its way to build a secured society through its core competencies including Health, WASH, Education, Emergency Relief, Food security, Livelihood and Protection. Muslim Hands Afghanistan was formed by a group of professionals and today it is blessed with +100 members include men, women and youth from different skill sets including medical professionals, Program and operation experts, and other professionals in non-profit sector. Muslim Hands Afghanistan is working under the effective leadership of nine national and international members of its board of trustees.
Job Description
Job Overview/Summary:
The Supervisor of MKC/OBG Gynecologist is responsible for managing and coordinating daily clinical operations to ensure the provision of comprehensive, compassionate, and holistic care for mothers and their families. The role oversees the delivery of essential services including prenatal and postnatal care, family planning, mental health support, nutrition counseling, and general maternal health services.
This position provides hands-on clinical care, conducting outpatient consultations, performing ultrasounds, and managing deliveries within the clinic. The supervisor of Clinic also supports clinical and administrative staff to maintain high standards of service and patient care and timely and accurately reporting and should provide consolidated package to MHI main office and ensure effective coordination and documentation. Responsibilities further include preparing weekly meeting minutes and maintaining organized, accurate clinic records and reports and ensure full compliance with MoPH and MHI standards and policies.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Carry out all tasks and assignments provided by the Medical Program Management team.
- Actively participate in training and educational programs to enhance professional skills and knowledge.
- Lead and participate in staff meetings, ensuring clear communication, guidance, and instruction to clinic personnel.
- Attend monthly meetings of the Women’s Health Committee and contribute to discussions and decision-making.
- Implement and adhere to BPHS standard guidelines, protocols, and Ministry of Public Health policies in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitor, enforce, and ensure compliance with established health standards within the clinic.
- Oversee waste management and infection prevention practices to ensure a safe and hygienic clinical environment.
- Work according to the official working hours defined by the Ministry of Public Health and MHI/Afghanistan.
- Review national standards, indicators, and clinical guidelines to continuously strengthen professional capacity and service quality.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports accurately and on time.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues to support smooth clinical operations and patient care.
- Review and sign prescriptions for nutrition patients in accordance with medical guidelines.
- Visit patients, treat them with dignity and respect.
- Supervise Pharmacy, Lab, and other sections to ensure medications are used effectively; ensure sound management of stock and up-to-date records.
- Supervise daily clinical activities and ensure adherence to MoPH and MHI standards.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to subordinates, create an effective working environment, and support team capacity building and growth. Perform any other tasks assigned by Medical Program Manager
Job Requirements
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Medical Doctor (MD) degree from a recognized institution.
- Specialization in OBGYN and Ultrasound (certified training or recognized specialty).
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, preferably in maternal and reproductive health, or a related field.
- Experience conducting ultrasound examinations, antenatal and postnatal care, and managing deliveries.
- Previous experience in clinic or team supervision is an advantage.
- Familiarity with BPHS guidelines, national health standards, and Ministry of Public Health protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to guide staff, interact with patients, and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Ability to prepare reports, maintain accurate documentation, and meet reporting deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy, community-based clinic environment.
- Commitment to professional development, continuous learning, and adherence to clinical standards.
