Job Descriptions:

Job purpose:

Social Mobilizer Officer will support the community-based activities, mainly supporting field social mobilizers, volunteers, health shura, and influencers.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordination with the Community to identify volunteers, health shura members, influencers, and site selection for the outreach team
  •  Support Social Mobilizers and community members in tracking refusal, under-vaccinated, and zero-dose children in routine immunization.
  • Find out the estimated number of children under one year based on the catchment population figure and vaccination targets.  
  • Work with religious leaders, shuras, and local influencers to identify families who missed vaccination, zero-dose, and under-immunized children. 
  • Support the outreach teams in defaulter tracking lists, generated from immunization registers of nearby facilities, to flag children who missed scheduled doses 
  • Support the outreach teams to reach marginalized groups like the nomadic population, new settlements, and new arrivals/migrants. 
  • Training of community influencers and volunteers who are actively supporting polio and routine immunization (RI) communication.
  • Conduct refresher orientations for existing volunteers and shura members under the ECHO Project
  • Facilitate community dialogue sessions
  • Support social mobilizers in the identification of Priority areas and train community influencers and volunteers. 
  • Develop community health committees/Shuras
  • Support volunteers, shura members, and influencers to disseminate culturally appropriate messages and IEC materials
  • Track and support the work of volunteers and influencers
  • Support social mobilizers, volunteers, shura members, and influencers to conduct awareness sessions integrated with WASH, nutrition, and immunization
  • Engaging religious and community leaders in project activities  
  • Conduct awareness activities and engage with the wider community on promoting uptake of vaccination services.
  • Organize workshops/training/meetings with the community elder, shura members, and community influential
  • Identification of AFP cases, referral, follow-up, and linking the community with the outreach teams
  • Maintaining accurate records and preparing reports.
  • Support the outreach teams in the selection of the site, inform the community, and follow up on any missed cases

Qualifications:

Higher-level education related to social science, health, and other relevant branches.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in the community for any social-related program.
  • Working experience on polio will be an added value.

Competency :

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Dari and Pashto, and English is desirable.
  • Honest, hardworking and self-motivated.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within different cultural environments.

Able to deliver training and orientation sessions in the community.
