Job Descriptions:

Job Purpose:

The hygiene promoter is responsible for providing information about hygiene awareness, Cholera Awareness, Personal hygiene, environmental hygiene, food hygiene ETC.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct hygiene promotion sessions and home visits.
  • Conduct hygiene promotion sessions for community hygiene promoters.
  • Conducting cholera awareness campaigns at the community level.
  • Supervise community hygiene promoters.
  • Distribution of hygiene kits.
  • Participate in post-distribution monitoring PDM after hygiene kit or water kit distribution.
  • Participate in solid waste clean-up campaigns.
  • Conduct baseline and end-line KAP surveys.
  • Submit daily data to the data entry clerk.
  • Working in a team and ensuring that problems are identified in the initial stages and solved amicably. 
  • Coordinate with other sectors (Health, Nutrition, protection, Education) to integrate hygiene promotion activities.
  • Support rapid hygiene promotion and risk communication during emergencies (Floods, Earthquake, drought, cholera and AWD outbreaks)
  • Provide support to the WASH Officer with adequate information, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting, and problem-solving.
  • Document lessons learned, best practices and success stories for reporting and learning purposes.
  • Attending all relevant meetings requested by the supervisor relevant to the project goals.
  • Assist in other duties requested by the supervisor. Submitted weekly and monthly reports to the WASH officer.

As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.  Conducts work with the highest level of integrity

Good communication skills with the community and all staff.

Written and spoken English is preferable.

To be able to propose solutions to the identified needs.
